IVF financing

We will be completely OOP for our IVF w/ICSI so we'll definitely need to finance it. I know that Care Credit covers IVF costs. And I'm sure my clinic has some places they can recommend. I was just wondering if anyone here has any tips, advice, or options to share? TIA!

P.S. We pretty much have one shot at this whole IVF thing. If it doesn't get us a baby then that's pretty much the end of the line for us. I. Am. Terrified.

    I haven't read this book, but have read good reviews about if on different message boards and blogs.  It might be worth a read to see if it gives you any additional ideas.  Good Luck!!!

    Sorry I don't have much advice for you for financing.  Here in Canada we would have to go to the bank for financing and it's $5K-$10K.

    I don't know your history of TTC or your personal thoughts but wanted to share a little thougth with you.  DH and I were going to try IVF w/ICSI but there were going to be additional costs as DH was going to have to have a small surgery as well.  DH didn't want to have surgery and due to costs we've decided on donor insemination.  It's so much cheaper.  About $1000 a try.

    Don't give up hope.  I wish you the best.

    Instead of getting a loan, we put it on a 0% credit card!
    Diagnosis: MFI and Egg Quality Issues IVF#1-October-BFN ER-16 eggs, 8 mature, 7 fertilized, 2transferred and no frozen IVF#2- March-Beta 3/19 ER- 12 eggs, 8 mature, 7 fertilized, 2 transferred and 1 frozen-BFN. IVF#3 July ER-19 eggs, 13 mature, 10 fertilized...waiting til Day 5 to PGD. PGD results-4 out of 5 embryos are normal and will be banked. IVF#4 Sept 11' 22 eggs, 16 mature, 15 fertilized...waiting til Day 5 to PGD. Total normal embryos banked, quality varies: FET-Nov 11'-BFP Beta #1: 156, Beta #2: 489 First u/s revealed TWINS!! 2nd u/s= 2 beautiful heartbeats! 12/17 Lost one of the twins :(BabyFruit Ticker

    We maxed out our Flexible Spending account and then put the rest on a 0% interest credit card.

    I refinanced both of our cars (they were almost paid off), and pulled out the equity. I also maxed out my flex spending. This made it possible for us to purchase a three cycle package. I know that some women have refinanced their homes. GL with financing!!!

    I'm an accountant and Dh and I are both pretty risk adverse. We are paying for our next IVF oop, but using savings we already have. Have you thought about this? How long would it take you and Dh to save for IVF if you were really focused on it? Is that amount of time worth the wait or would your prognosis/ chance of success lessen too much? I know for us, taking out a loan or financing IVF would be out of the question. I just wanted to make sure you have considered how you will feel making a monthly payment on a loan if you get a bfn... for me, that would be too much to handle.

    IVF #1 w ICSI in July 2010 = BFN
    IVF #2.1 in Oct 2010 converted to IUI = BFN
    IVF #2.2 w ICSI in Dec 2010 = BFN
    Met with new RE in new city on 1/31/11.
    IVF #3 w ICSI in April 2011. HPT on 5/9 = BFP!
    Beta #1 on 5/10 (10dp5dt) = 99.4. Beta #2 on 5/12 = 284. First u/s on 5/26. = Fraternal TWINS!
    Twin boys born & lost on 8/16/11 at 18w1d due to PPROM & preterm labor.
    IVF #4.1 in Jan 2012 converted to IUI on 1/7/12 = BFN
    IVF #4.2 w ICSI in Feb 2012. Lupron on 2/10. Stims on 2/18. ER on 2/29- 7R,6F
    ET scheduled for 3/5/12- nothing to transfer :(
    Dh seeing new MFI uro & Dh starting meds- June 2012.
    IVF #5 in Dec 2012 = BFFN.
    IVF #6 planned for Spring 2013. Praying for our take home baby/ies.

    This is something I've thought a lot about. I, too, am risk-averse (read cheapskate) and I HATE being in debt. It would take us probably two years to be able to save up enough to do IVF from what we've saved. And I don't think I could handle waiting that long. I pretty much never put emotional needs ahead of financial/practical ones. Except this time. I guess it's just worth it to me.

    P.S. I bought the book but haven't recieved it in the mail yet. If I get any cool tips I'll definitely let everyone know about them!

    We're in the same boat.  We've decided to save up the cost.  We took some pretty drastic steps like both getting new jobs that pay more money, living on a very strict budget, etc. 

    If this ivf cycle doesn't work, then maybe we will consider financing some of a second cycle, maybe moving onto donor sperm.

    *edit* -- Just wanted to clarify that one of the reasons we are saving for this cycle is so that I feel less pressure about this being our one and only chance.  Don't mean to imply that financing your first cycle is a bad option. :)

    Married 8/2008. IVF with PGD March 2013.
    3/22 ER: 25R, 20M, 15F. 9 genetically normal, and 3 survived to Day 5
    3/27 ET: transferred 1 embryo, beta 9dp5dt=163, 12dp5dt=639
    4/25 1st ultrasound at 7 weeks = identical twins with heartbeats?!!!
    PPROM at 31w, delivery at 32 weeks of two beautiful girls
