Lanolizing and a little too much wool wash!

So, I'm in the process of lanolizing at the step where my wool is sitting in the lanolin mixture lanolizing. The thing is, in my mixture, I added much more than a pea-sized drop of wool wash (Face of the wave w/ lanolin and peppermint fragrance).

My question is, if I rinse the wool in tepid water to remove any excess wash before drying would that ruin the lanolizing process? Or should I be good to go?

If there's too much wash left in the wool, I don't want it to irritate LO's skin.

  • Eh lanolin is used as a skin moisturizer.  I wouldn't worry.  Your wool just might look a little crusty til it all works into the fabric.

  • you can't really over lanolize, it will just feel greasy.

So you lanolized and washed in the same bowl at the same time?

  • Sorry I didn't explain myself well.

I'm not concerned about the lanolin on baby's skin but concerned that there will be too much of the other ingredients left in the wool (like peppermint and surfactant, if any) to irritate baby's skin since after that step the wool is not rinsed.

My fear was that if I rinsed the wool in tepid water after lanolizing to remove excess peppermint, etc. that I would remove too much lanolin and have to start over.

  • it should be fine.  I wouldn't worry about it unless theres a problem.
