Baby's head really low in my pelvis

I knew this, I guess.  But when my dr. told me at my appt yesterday and proceeded to feel exactly where his/her head is, it freaked me out!  It is SO low.  No wonder I have the pressure and discomforts I do, but seriously.  I need to keep this baby in until at least 37.5 weeks (when DH and DS will return from a trip across the country). I think I am just scared now. When it wasnt' this close, the thought of DH and DS not being here for the birth didn't seem real at all.  Now that we are getting closer, it seems very real and I don't like it.

Re: Baby's head really low in my pelvis

  • Don't panic quite yet. Women can walk around 3 or 4 cm dilated for weeks without going into labor. If they can do that, and certainly their babies are "low in their pelvis", then you should be OK.

  • My boys dome piece has been sitting ontop of my cervix for a couple of weeks now. I have no worry that he won't stay put, neither does my midwife.

  • I know my fear isn't really rational and he/she will appear when it's time and no sooner or later.  I think that hearing that yesterday just added to my fears I already have about them missing the birth.
