Natural Childbirth Hospital/Doctor Suggestions?

Please help if you can.  It feels like there should be more information out there, but I'm having difficutly finding it.  I'm very interesting in finding out which hospitals have natural childbirth friendly facilities and staff.  I've alread toured West Suberban, but wasn't terriably impressed with the facilites, although the staff does seem wonderful.  There has to be an option with both great staff, equipment and surroundings.  Please it you have any experience, please help point me in the right direction.

    I used the Midwives from West Suburban Women's Health in Willowbrook.  I delivered at Adventist Hinsdale.

    I go to the women's group of Northwestern, its on Michigan Ave and they all practice at Prentice Women's Hospital. Now I'm thinking your question is can you do a drug free delivery, if I'm wrong then ignore my response but if that is what you want I see no reason this place wouldn't allow it as for me I have a medical issue that I can't have an epidural and they suggested learning hypnosis for natural childbirth...now I have no desire for this and am planning other options but she seemed very serious to me so I think if you want it, they'd support you.

    And this practice seems great to me thus far, super friends....like everyone and thus far I feel like they never rush me, let me ask all my questions and actually have time for them!

    In Chicago, I delivered at Swedish Covenant Hospital, and saw the midwives there.  They were awesome and of course are all for natural childbirth...The staff at the hospital was great-I had submitted a birth plan ahead of time, and they all knew what my wishes were and respected it!  I also brought in a doula and they were cool with that too!  Good luck!  Oh yeah, and they have jacuzzi tub, birthing stools, bars and balls available for use!

    If you are seriously looking to go natural then your best options in Chicago are West Suburban, Swedish Covenant or Illinois Masonic with the midwives in these hospitals.   Let me ask you this- Have you thought about taking a childbirth class to know how to achieve a natural birth?  I am a childbirth educator and strongly recommend taking a class to learn all that you can about the natural process.  A big part of going natural in this day and age is in having some knowledge and choosing where you will give birth.  Prentice is not known for having many natural births, not to say that you can't, but they more so go a different route.     West sub is the best option when it comes to natural facilities. They are one of the only hospitals in the area that have an ABC and one of two/three hospitals who does water birth. Swedish Covenant(California and Foster) has a laboring tub in every room and their midwives are very supportive of natural birth and the rooms are a nice size. IL Masonic(Wellington and Sheffield) has an ABC as well, but it is hard to get into due to staffing. They have a tub you can soak in, a big bed and is very roomy, but no water birth,

    Dr Teresa Hubka with Swedish Covenant Hospital! She is very pro-natural birth and has a midwife in her office as well.

    AFAIK, Oak Park and Elk Grove are the only two places around that have an alternative birth center. Gentle Birth Care, with offices in Oak Park and Ravenswood, offers home birth. As far as actual standard hospital delivery, I think it sometimes has as much to do with your OBGYN as the hospital itself.
