Since it's almost fall, I was thinking of getting mine this weekend. Better to be safe! I have a friend who has the stomach flu already and I do NOT need that on top of everything else right now! When are you getting yours?

Re: When are you getting your flu shot?
They'll give them at work in the next few weeks and I'll get it then.
I worry that it will wear off in the dead of winter, so I'd rather wait a few weeks. I know the CDC said it doesn't but after years of saying that it would and that's why you don't want to get it until October, it stuck in my brain.
Don't feel like an idiot. It is actually recommended in pregnancy because your baby will get some of the immunity but, after months and months and months of being told all the things we CAN'T have and what they WON'T give us, who would guess this one would be okay? Unless you work in healthcare or someone specifically tells you, it's counter intuitive.
I work for a med school, and our first batch should be arriving next week. I'm first on the list to get it. Our staff nurse is amazing and is watching out for me
Unless- like a pp- you have an allergy or some other medical reason for not getting a flu shot, everyone should get it. Babies under 6mo cannot get it, and so by YOU getting it, you are providing your baby with some immunity to the flu. It is not painful (and I'm terrified of needles), and you can get it almost anywhere (I think Target is currently offering it for $15). There is NO reason not to get it (again, unless you have a medical reason not to).

You might double check that they'll do it. My work won't do flu shots for pregnant people.

Um people have all kinds of personal reasons for not getting flu shots including religious reasons. I find it insulting that you think the only reason people would not get them is because they are lazy and/or squeamish. And I am sure that most people that choose not to get them feel that they are doing what is best for their baby just as you feel by getting it you are doing what is best for yours.
