Multiples

Did you have...

higher progesterone levels at the beginning since you have multiples, some people said it is a sign of multiples and I thought this would be the place to ask.  TIA

If so, if you knew how far along you were could you share that, your prog. # and your hcg?

Re: Did you have...

  • They didn't check my prog. levels.  My HCG was 309 @ 14dpo, 643 @ 16dpo and over 5000 @ 21dpo.

My nurse said my #'s were a bit higher and *might* mean there were multiples.  She also mentioned that high beta's could just mean a healthy singleton too.  Not a great indicator of how many babies are cooking.

    What was your beta?

    GL!

  • You'll definitely find some women here had elevated levels early on, but not all of us. Do you have an initial u/s scheduled? That's the only way to know for sure. Good luck- come back and update us :)

  • DSU!!!!  Hi girlie!  They never told me my progesterone levels but, I never thought about asking either.  It is a good indication.  ARE YOU EXPECTING????  If so, what were your progesterone levels?  So, so good to 'see' you again!!!!!

    ETA-my beta was 129 at 14 dpiui...I can't remember beyond that.

Hey!!!  How you been!  The kidos look great.  Yes just found I was pg, just came off of another m/c.  However I had a crazy messed up cycle so not sure when I ovulated if I did I know it was late.  So I just got my first numbers.  My HCG was 219 and my prog. was 32.  The nurse said she has never had one that high, so I did not know if that was a good or bad thing.

I am not sure if hcg is high or not either becuase I thought I did not ovulate and what do you know I did at some point.

I have not posted the pregnancy on SIF because so many people have changed and it just feels weird now.  I wanted to wait till I see a h/b. So I thought I would check over here since she made that comment of never seeing it that high.

I cannot believe how big the twins are getting!!

  • Those are HIGH numbers.  I wouldn't say this to anyone else that asked but, I'm tempted to suspect multiples with these numbers BUT, you really, truly can't know until that first u/s.

I hope that someone comes along this afternoon that knows more about the progesterone and can answer your question.

I'm thrilled to see you here...I hope all good things for you.  When is your first u/s?

Bigger question...What are you going to think if there are TWO cooking in there?

ETA-I'm so excited for you that I forgot to say Congrats!!!

He is going to do the 1st u/s once my hcg is over 5000 he says that is the sign he looks for because the heart beat can usually be seen.  I would gladly except two!  If this baby sticks we are done, we thought we would try one more time for a boy, but of course DH and I are planning on having 3 girls since we already have 2 which will be great!!!  However we wanted to try one more time for a boy.  DH is an identical twin, so he of course has always wanted twins, it runs on my said eof the family too, but quite a few generations back so it would be crazy!

Really really well.  We had sort-of a rough year but now things have smoothed out and are pretty darn good.  Just enjoying the crazy life.

  • At 14dpo, my HCG was 403 and my progesterone was 40.6. At 16dpo my HCG was 883 (did not have progesterone retested). My OB did say that she suspected multiples since she considered a progesterone level of 20 a 'nice healthy pregnancy' and my # was a little over double that. Surprise GL to you!

  • At approx 14 dpo my HCG was 153 and my progesterone was 28.  Nothing that would signify multiples.
  • Yes, not only were my HCG levels high, but my progestrone levels were high and the nurse at my RE told me after our first u/s that she suspected multiples based on my numbers and that high progestrone levels are often even more of an indicator than the HCG levels. Either way high numbers are a great sign with one or more - good luck!
