Why Baby Asprin

What is the reasons behind taking a daily BA?  I know to help the blood more along but, do you think that's it?  Do you think it really makes a difference?

Re: Why Baby Asprin

  • It's a mild blood thinner, so if you have clotting concerns it may be used. There is also the idea that stims "thicken your blood" but I don't know much about that theory. Some clinics add BA into each cycle, others only when indicated. Since it can cause excessive bleeding it is most often added after surgical procedures, such as ERs but I have seen people take it throughout their cycle.

I take it as a precaution since I have elevated PAI 1. There are more aggressive medications for bigger concerns, and from what I understand, it can be detrimental to certain conditions as well, so it's not something to take without your RE's instruction.

  • Yes, my RE told me to take one a day.  So, I just started.  She said that it will help with the blood flow.  However, when I told my acupunturist last night, he was basically like, don't take it and it's not necessary.  I, of course, am listening to my RE but, I am kind of wondering why this little tiny pill would help.  Kind of interesting...

  • Both my RE and my OB told me it increases blood flow to the uterus.  I have been taking i once a day for a LONG time.  Not sure if it helps or not but I still do it.  Good luck!

You appear to XP this on 3 different boards before waiting for answers from people. It might behoove you to lurk a little before blowing up 3 different boards with multiple questions per day.  You will learn a lot if you just read what others are posting.

For these patients, and even many without endometrial lining issues, we will typically recommend that she take a baby aspirin per day (81 mg) starting with gonadotropin stimulation. The rational for the use of baby aspirin is that on a micro-vascular level, vasodilation and decreased blood platelet aggregation occurs and therefore improves blood flow to the uterine lining, providing a lining with functional improvement. Blood platelets are the blood cells, which promote blood clotting. Two well designed studies confirm the benefit of baby aspirin use in improving pregnancy rates for patients with endometrial linings <8mm. It is important to note that the lining does not necessarily thicken with the use of baby aspirin - this is a qualitative improvement. It is also important to take only a baby aspirin, NOT a full dose aspirin.

  • My apologies wither16.  I'm new at this and really wasn't sure which board was appropriate.  I didn't meant to blow up any boards.
