Hi Ladies-
Its been awhile since I've been on. My LO is currently 21 months and we recently found out we are pregnant again. I am due late April. I saw an OB with first preg and had a good experience but am interested in using a midwife this time. I am having a hard time finding one, call GBMC where I delivered last time and they were not helpful. If you could recommend yours that would be great. I am in Perry Hall. TIA
Re: recommend your midwife
This! Dr. Knauer is fantastic as is most of the staff over there!!
I went to OBGYN specialists and they have a MW Jeannette Wolf who is fabulous and delvers at GBMC.I had a c-section so she wasn't at my delivery but she did most of my prenatal appointments, gyn care and post natal stuff. She is fantastic and has a bit more of a holistic/natural approach.
You will need to see all the OBs though and obviously aren't guaranteed that she'll be attending your delivery.
I hear lots of great things about the MWs at Mercy. But I don't know of a MW group that delivers at GBMC.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
Like PP, I had a wonderful experience with the midwives at Special Beginnings. If you are wondering if it is worth the trip from where you live, I definitely say it is - I drove 1 hour and 30 minutes at the end of my pregnancy weekly to go to appointments with them. I had the most amazing water birth experience as a result of being able to deliver at the birth center.
Special Beginnings Birth and Women's Center in Arnold is fantastic and worth the drive! I live in Fells Point and it takes about 40 minutes to get there. I am currently 35 weeks pregnant and have been seeing the midwives there for the entire pregnancy. The experience has been wonderful. All 4 midwives (and the entire staff!) are knowledgable, friendly, and put me at ease. I've been so happy with my care. I am planning to deliver at the birth center, but you can choose to deliver at Anne Arundel Medical Center (about a 10 min drive from the birth center.) I would highly recommend meeting with them. Check out their website: www.specialbeginnings.com.
I also know that the midwives at both Maryland General Hospital and St. Joe's are good as well.
