Success after IF

if your LO had sensitivities to certain foods in your breastmilk

if you LO was sensitive to things like beans, broccoli, or cabbage in your breastmilk, did they outgrow it? these gas-producing foods definitely gave my son a tummy ache when he was younger, and i'm scared to try them again. TIA for any advice!

  • I started adding things back in when Anna started solids. For example, she tolerated eating broccoli, so yay I could eat it again too. Did she have a little gas, sure. But nothing like when she was younger. The exception is dairy. I accidentally ate something that had been cross contaminated with butter. She had bloody mucousy poop for 2 days. She's staying off dairy.

i'm so sorry anna still can't have dairy--i know it's such a PITA to cut it out of your diet. fortunately aaron doesn't have any trouble with it now, but i'm still scared to do broccoli. i'm so chicken, it's probably not the end of the world if he has gas for day! :P

Honestly, it's not big deal for me to miss out on dairy. I really don't miss it that much. We found a butter substitute that we even like better than dairy, coconut milk yogurt/ice cream is delish and there are plenty of milk substitutes (almond, rice, etc). The only thing I really miss is soft serve and pizza... and i may not even go back to eating it. I'm at the lowest weight i've been at for a long time - and I think not eating dairy has something to do with it.

Anna will never have cows milk dairy... not as long as I can control what she eats. As an adult she can make her own choices, but we've pretty much landed in the camp of "humans aren't meant to drink milk from another animal". I strongly believe that's why there's so many issues with lactose and milk protein allergies. We just weren't meant to digest it.

Broccoli was scary... but she does really well with it now. Just a toot here and there. Nothing that seems to bother her. I still haven't done peppers, cauliflower, brussell sprouts or cabbage.
