I am curious to know where everyone else stands as far as dilation and effacement, or if you have already delivered, what your last "stats" were before labor. I am due 9/22.
At my 36 week appt, I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced, and my doctor said my cervix was still pretty far back, and baby was at a -2 or -3 station, meaning he is moving into my pelvis, but not engaged yet.
I am 36w5d, and at my appt today, my doctor said nothing had changed. I am a little bit discouraged, so hoping to see where everyone else is at, and those of you who share my situation, we don't have long to go, so keep hanging in there!
Re: Compare Your Dilation/Effacement Progress
At 37 week appt (last thurs), a fingertip dilated (which is defined as "more than zero, less than one" according to my dr), 50% effaced.
We'll see what they say tomorrow! I have had very few contractions, and haven't been as active this past week as I'd have liked to be, so if those are any indicators, I'm in for the long haul.
I'd be so stinkin' excited if he said I was 4 cm tomorrow lol!
I was 1 cm/20% at 36 and 37 weeks. I'm now at 2 cm/50% at 38 weeks.
At 36w4d I was dilated "a fingertip" and I didn't have some effacement, but she didn't specify how much. I also don't know what my official station was, but the OB could feel the baby's head already. I had been having irregular contractions for a week or two, and my OB said that probably was helping to "soften" my cervix.
At my 37w3d appointment, I was dilated 1.5cm and over 50% effaced. I had still been having irregular contractions all week. My appointment was at 1pm and at 7pm we headed to the hospital because I was having regular contractions. When I got into triage around 8, I was 4cm. I had the baby around 3:30am.

At my 36 week appointment i was 50% effaced, as of last Thursday (37 weeks) I was 50% effaced, "almost" 1cm dilated and "very soft". Dr didn't mention my station, but he feels very low!
I have my next appt tomorrow and would be thrilled to have progress to report
At 36 weeks I was 60% effaced, not dilated at all and baby was at -2 station. This morning (37 weeks) my said I was "continuing to thin out" and a fingertip dilated, which isn't much but it's more than last week so I'll take it!
Zero dilation, some softening of the cervix, and the cervix is still pretty far back. On the plus side, they could feel the baby's head so he's dropping into position. My doctor does not provide station or percentage of effacement. She may or may not provide a dilation estimate since I have nothing to provide an estimate of. This is from today at 39w3d. I'm glad I've made a very comfy 40 week home for LO, but let's get this show on the road!
I will say BH/crampiness/clearing out have picked up so that is encouraging at least.
My OB doesn't check until 38 - and at 38 I was 1cm, and baby was in "North Dakota", at 39 I was 3cm and baby was in "Kansas". I'm not exactly sure how the geographic references relate to position, but I'm guessing we want to be in Texas and that the gulf would be the actual birth. I find the countrified references that my doctor uses to be quite amusing, albeit somewhat vague.
Yesterday was my 40 week: 1 cm dilated, 75% effaced; baby has dropped, but not sure what station he's at (I forgot to ask).
I was soooo glad to find that out, because it was my first internal, (up to this point, I didn't care to check; didn't feel like there was much going on) and I was happy to find that he has indeed dropped. All my experienced "mother" friends insisted that he hadn't, but I'm short & have a short torso, so on the outside, there wasn't much difference.
Yay for progress!
At 33 weeks I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. At 34 weeks, 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced and that stayed the same for 35 weeks.
My 38 week appt is tomorrow...so we'll see. I feel a lot worse down there and care barely walk today- but I also slid into a semi-split last night by accident, so i think I may have either killed my vagina or made something progress by accident.
I went into preterm labor at 33 weeks, and did not ask for an internal. But, once that happens it was standard to check me internally weekly until they hit 36 weeks (when I guess they would no longer have tried to prevent the baby from coming). So that is why I know from early on and then have a gap and will know tomorrow at 38 weeks. Also, they checked me at 33 weeks because they were checking for an infection and that is how they caught the early labor. And, tomorrow they are deciding what to do because I have since developed hypertension out of nowhere so they may want to induce for medical reasons if nothing is progressing.
I was 1cm last week (36w2d). My doctor didn't say anything other than that and that my cervix is softening.
Tomorrow is my 37 week appointment and I'm curious to see if I've made any "progress." I had some pretty intense contractions and discharge last night, so I'd be shocked (and disappointed) if things haven't progressed a bit.
I was getting my strep B test and she just checked, I didnt ask her, she just did it..I dont go back till I'm 37 weeks which is in a week. I also have a history of going in to labor early so I guess that might be the reason...?
At 35 weeks, I was one finger-tip dilated and although she could feel the baby's head in my pelvis, she could push him back up a little. She didn't say how much I was effaced.
This is my third pregnancy and I went early with #2 so I asked to be checked when she did my GBS test.
At my appointment this week (37w1d) I was 1cm dilated. She said that my cervix was still high. There was no mention of effacement, position, or anything.
im due 9/5 and 0cm/70%, cervix is very high and baby still hasn't dropped but she said my cervix is soft whatever that means
My practice starts at 36 weeks and then will check at every subsequent appointment. I almost asked them not to, but I didn't and I kind of regret it because I really don't want him coming for another week and a half to 2 weeks, but I can't help but freak out that it could happen any minute now!
I have been having contractions for two days now that are getting progressively worse and I feel like the little darling is going to fall out any day now... My OB said she doubts I'll make it through the weekend! Yippy!
My OB doesn't check until 38 weeks unless there is reason to... so I'll get checked at my appt on Friday. My guess is not much is going on...
