Baby shower name

I just went to a baby shower for a Thai couple the other day. They are having a girl. The wife is born and raised Thai, while the husband is only half and raised in the states. Anyway, when I asked if they had decided on the name, the wife didn't want to tell because she apparently got outvoted by her husband, and doesn't really like the first name. The middle name was her choice (and I think it's Thai). The name, for their daughter, is Jett Naurora (not sure of the exact spelling on the mn). I'm not a huge fan of Jett for a boy, but for a girl. Ick. I'd have prefered the mn as the fn as well.

I like Jet/Jett for a boy sometimes....for a girl is interesting. Not sure why but I don't hate hate it. It does throw you back! Are they for sure using it?

um if she didnt want to tell people the name really doesnt like it then why is she naming her baby that?? & how do you get outvoted with 2 people?? i would never nme my baby something i really didnt like & would be embarrased to announce at th baby shower. poor kid!

I attended a wedding this past summer and there was the most beautiful little girl and her name was Jett! Another guest explained to me that her daddy flew airplanes, so wasn't that cute? I thought no; its awful! Share your hobby with your child don't name him or her after it!

She didn't announce it. It was a co-ed baby shower, so her husband was there too (the boys drank in the backyard). He announced it because she wouldn't. I'm not sure how he got the say in the name. Maybe she figures because he's more American he's knows more. But she definitely is not happy with it (and just to let you know, I'm actually friends with the father and his son from another relationship is named Xavian, so he likes unique names).

Every time I hear someone say her husband insisted on a name that she didn't like, it makes me sad and angry. How disrespectful to do that to someone! Parents should be excited about their children's names, not resentful. Technically, I could have named my daughter whatever I wanted (almost went with Margaret) but h really loved the name Bay (which I originally suggested) so ultimately, we went with that because we both liked it. I would feel terrible if he hated her name.
