How much milk does LO drink from a bottle when you pump? DD has never had a bottle and tonight will be the first time! I'll be out with some girlfriends for a few hrs. so I'm pumping now and will leave a bottle in the fridge for DH to give to her. Is 3-4 oz. sufficient? She nurses every 2 hrs. during the day. I hope she takes the bottle! I'm really nervous she won't!

Re: Question for BF'ing mamas
More is better than less! Mine eats about 6 ounces on average and I exclusively pump. Hopefully she does well. I would check the nipple size and make sure it will flow enough for her but not too much. THis is one part of frustration my little one has. Good luck! I am out tonight as well and praying my husband doesn't have a meltdown. (he gets a little stressed when I am gone all night)
My son is 3 months and nearly 1 week, and nurses approximately every 3 hours. When he goes to childcare, the bottles I send for him have 4.5oz each. He seems satisfied after his bottles, and sometimes doesn't finish the entire thing, so I assume this is a good amount for him.
I'd guess, since your daughter nurses more frequently, she may be taking in less at each nursing session, so you might be able to get away with 3-4oz?
Good luck! I always get really nervous when it comes to bottles, too. I'm always scared he'll be hungry! Luckily, you'll only be gone a few hours, so even if you don't leave exactly enough, she can catch up when you return in a few hours.
3-4 oz is enough for my boy - we only give bottle occasionally, though, and I generally want him to be hungry when I get home.
