sorry for being so "patchy" on my time here at the bump. as i get close to this ultrasound on thursday, i'm getting scared and i've been kind of avoiding the bump because i don't want to ask for support when i am not in the right state of mind to give it all back. i promise, once i get over this hump, i'll be back to normal (hopefully). with that being said, i really could use some answers/reassurance.
i have been REALLY uncomfortable lately. i know i'm getting close to halfway so the baby is in a growth spurt persay, but seriously ladies, i feel like my uterus is going to fall out. every time i bend, it hurts. it feels like i'm 9 months along and can't bend over because someone is uterus punching me. when we ride in the car, the bumps hurt so bad! am i really supposed to be this uncomfortable this early on? it's making my PgAL brain go insane thinking something is wrong. i read a post on here the other day that a woman followed her initution and went to the ER when she was having cramps and really uncomfortable, and it turned out she was contracting and fingertip dilated and the doctor's told her it was a good thing she came because they had to stop her labor. that's literally scaring the crap out of me.
also, what do BH feel like? i googled (a no no i know but it was weird!) and the definitions range alot. after we had sex on saturday, i stood up and couldn't straighten the whole way without pain/uncomfortable feelings. so i looked in the mirror, and lone and behold, i can see my uterus outline. it was ROCK SOLID! i poked it, and it was almost like my muscle was contracting, and stuck there. is that what BH are? i read online it's normal after orgasm to have a BH, but as always, i trust you ladies WAY more then i trust doctor google.
i'm trying not to worry because i'm pretty sure as i'm typing this, i'm feeling them kick and roll around in there (if that's what it is. everyone keeps telling me, oh it's early, you're only almost 19 weeks you won't feel kicks until later), but you are the only ladies that can understand how my brain is working right now. and with this ultrasound coming up, and not having one since week 7, i'm petrified that somethings going to be wrong.
ok, sorry so long. it feels good just to type all that out to people who understand. i say things to my husband and friends, and they just all keep telling me to calm down there's nothing i can do if something is wrong. they just don't get it ![]()
and here's a treat! i made a cake this weekend for my DH, because he brought me roses home "just because"
and it was so good, so here you go! a double decker chocolate mousse cake! (of course, it's not the one i made, but just as good!)

Re: :( ladies, i have a question, or two.

Oh, PgAL is so hard sometimes. My brain goes to worst case scenarios every time I get close to a u/s too. Right now it's that my bump is smaller this week and I'm going to find out on Friday at the a/s that there is no fluid in there and LO has died. Even though I'm pretty sure I can feel LO moving around like crazy in there.
So what I'm trying to say is your worry is normal, and doesn't mean there is anything wrong.
I wouldn't worry at all about the tight ute after orgasm. It sounds like textbook BH, and as long as you're not having them all the time, they're normal. Drink more fluids and rest if you're having them more often.
You *shouldn't* be in horrible pain all day, and yes, it *could* indicate PTL. That being said, plenty of people have lots of aches and pains and it's just as likely that it's RLP, which can be not just the sharp pain on quick movement but also a lot of aching. Both Mayo Clinic and WTEWYE say aches and pains that are not severe or accompanied by fever, lightheadedness, or vomiting are normal.
REGARDLESS you have to trust your intuition here. If you are having severe pain, go get it checked out. Hang in there, and let us know how it goes!
((Hugs)) I know that being PGAL any discomfort can be worrying. I would definitely mention it on Thursday - just describe exactly what you are feeling and see what the doctor says. I felt some similar feelings around the 20 week point, but it's always a good idea to keep your doctor posted.
As for BH, I think they are sometimes hard to identify. My belly always feels pretty hard, so that hasn't been an indicator for me. It's sort of a tightening. The important thing to note is if it comes in waves. If it happens once, for example after orgasm, no biggie. If you notice your uterus tightening and releasing 3 or 4 times in an hour, call your doctor and they'll probably send you to the hospital. Make sure to keep hydrated (2 or 3 liters of water a day), since my doctor told me that is the leading cause of preterm contractions.
I hope all goes well Thursday! Thanks for the cake.

We all have periods where we need to take more than we can give, as long as it generally balanced out, I think everyone understands, so I wouldn't shy away from the bump for that reason- esp. b/c it sounds like it might really help you get through this next few days!
I have frequent contractions. I almost always feel them, but some hurt more than others. With all of them they start low and build up to the top of my uterus, I can always tell my pushing on my uterus whether I'm having one (it's hard) or not (I can push in on it like a relaxed muscle). If you're having more than 4 in an hour, I'd call your doctor to talk it over. After I have a bunch in a row, my abdomen feels sore like I just did way too many crunches. HTH! ((HUGS))

That thing you described with the rock hard ute, that sounds like BH to me. I described my BH to my doctor like a big muscle cramp. Its tenses up and is really hard for a little while, and then it will relax. BH can be brought on by sex. Mine are typically when I'm overdue to pee (ie 3am or so) and I know they can also be brought on when you're dehydrated.
The other pain you described...I'm wondering if it might be RLP. It sounds like when it bothers you is when you're moving. RLP often strikes when there is a big change in positions (ie getting up from a chair or bending over). 19 weeks isn't too early to have RLP.
Same with the movement, 19 weeks isn't too early to be feeling it. It won't necessarily be regular yet though, a lot of times it isn't regular until around the start of 3rd Tri. Don't be surprised if you have days here and there where you can't feel movement. Those days are super hard from a PgAL standpoint, but totally normal.
If you have some concerns still, give your provider a call. Hopefully they can put your mind at ease.

Proud mother of two breech babies:)
thanks ladies! as always, you all make me feel so reassured.
i think i'll mention the "uterus falling out" feeling whenever i call to schedule my appointment. as for the BH, i'll monitor them next time and make sure it's no more hen 4 an hour. that was the first time, and i think it just freaked me out because i wasn't sure what it was, and didn't know BH happened so early! i always thought that was later on.
and if y'all could spare some T&P's that on Thursday, this little one is healthy and doing wonderful in there, and hopefully they show us the "goods"!

As for BH vs true labor contractions they said at the hospital that BH are felt in the back and upper abdomen and True labor is felt in the back and radiates to the lower abdomen.
Also check your pee if it is dark yellow you are probably dehydrated which can cause cramps.
Also next OB appt tell your OB you are really freaked out and you want your cervix checked. He can look with a vaginal u/s or stick his hand up into you and physically check.
I go tomorrow to have my cervical length checked by u/s. They said if I am closed back I can go home and stay on bed rest with permission to get up and do a little for my self. Or if I am still dilated I get a cerclage which I understand is some kind of stitches. I am too scared to google it. GL
Oh the bending over, bumps in the car thing I was told was a result from RLP. Hopefully you are healthy and closed up.
oh my gosh, i'm so sorry that is happening to you! please don't feel like you have ANYTHING to do with me stressing me. believe me, even without reading a post like that, i was already freaking out. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't feel bad. this is a place for support, and you need it! i'm so sorry that you had such a scary experience, and i will be thinking/praying for you that everything goes smoothly tomorrow. and wishing you all the luck in the world! i don't have any advice on the cerclage, but i don't blame you for not wanting to google it. google is a scary place!
oh i feel like a butthead. i couldn't remember where i read that, and now i feel bad for making you feel bad. thank you so much for the advice, that's good to know! and i know i already said it, but you're seriously in my thoughts!!!! you and your little one. please update me/us tomorrow!

First off, I know exactly how you feel with feeling guilty for not being around here and giving as much support as I should. I sometimes have to stay away for my own good and my PGAL brain. Don't feel bad at all!
Second, I am sorry you are going through this and having those feelings. When is your u/s? As worried as you sound, it is worth it to call the doc and demand that you can get in earlier. I think it as always better to be safe..and then you might have some peace in mind. I hope everything is ok!! Keep us updated, I will be sending lots of good vibes your way

thank you! i feel really bad, and i hate asking for support when i can't give it back, but i just don't feel like i'm in the right state of mind to be giving anyone support. i try to comment here and there - but right now i just kind of stay away.
my ultrasound is thursday! it's an elective one - i caved. i was waiting for the A/S but my doctor was being a butthole, and he wants to wait until i'm like 23 weeks, even though i called and asked if we could move it up due to my distance and co pay costs. he didn't care, so i said fine i'll just schedule an elective. i need to see my baby and make sure they are ok! i haven't had an ultrasound since 7w3d, and i really need the assurance so i think that's well worth the 70 bucks. thanks so much for the good vibes! i can definately use them right now. my pgal brain is getting the best of me right now.
