So I thought I would see where everyone else was at with the selection of monitors. I am 100% sold on having a video monitor as my very good friends have one and I love being able to push the button while we are all hanging out and checking in on him. I have read the stuff about interference but we don't have close neighbors so I am not overly concerned. We are registered for the touch screen Summer Infant video monitor.
Last night a friend mentioned she has a friend who has the Angel care and feels it is the only thing that made her sleep. I had looked into the Angel care originaly as they have the video option now but it got an F rating with baby bargains as it doesn't really do anything to prevent SIDS just helps parents have a better peace of mind. Is that worth it?? I am wondering if there are false alarms frequently??
TIA ladies!!! I would love to hear where everyone else is at or what people are currently using
Re: Monitors
With our first we have a video monitor by Levana and we really liked it. The video portion is small and portable which is was my preference, so we could watch her downstairs, sitting outside, or by our night stand. It did work well, we could even see her chest moving.
Now, since we are expecting another and still want to monitor our first, we got the Summer infant monitor with split screens. Again, it is a slim portable design and so far we are very happy with it.

We decided to pass on the angelcare monitor. Instead of making me feel peace, it was adding to the spirit of fear that I already had about SIDS. I don't know if that makes any sense, but it did to us.
We love our Summer Infant Slim & Secure. FWIW, if you get any digital monitor, you don't have to worry about cross connection with neighbors.
I use a Motorolla video monitor that we bought on sale along with the Angelcare monitor. https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Digital-Video-Baby-Monitor/dp/B0041Q2V5G/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1314561817&sr=1-1)
I love them both. DD is a tummy sleeper and having them both really helps me relax and I have not had a false alarm once with the monitor.
