Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Longer break between feeding?

For those mamas with older babies, when do they start taking longer breaks between feeding? My 8 week old nurses every 90 minutes to 2 hours during the day. She's been eating at the same intervals since coming home, though we do get a pretty long stretch at night (5-6 hours). Just wondering when they'll start to space out more during the day.

TIA!

Re: Longer break between feeding?

  • DD was about 8 weeks when this happened and it was to about 4 hour stretches.  She didn't make any other significant changes to this interval until she was getting some solids at 6 months.

Great about the long stretch at night!  DD would only go 4 hours at night too, until she was almost a year!

  • DS went to every three hours at 3 months, and DD has been doing that for a couple of months already.

  • At about 10-11 weeks, DD went from every 3 hrs to every 4 during the day when she's at DC or at home with DH. When she's with me, she typically nurses every 3 hrs, which has been her interval since day 1.
