  I read about this story this morning. I guess it's suppose to address the nation's issues of childhood obesity, however why is it a picture book with a 14 yr old main character. I would think that if it is geared towards 14 year olds it should be written as such.

  At any rate the author could have come up with a better "reward" for the girl in the story instead of being popular because she lost weight.

  I have more friends when I'm fat - someone needs to make everyone else look better. Plus, I get bitchy when I'm hungry :P

  But really, getting more friends? Do you want to be friends with some shallow-a$$ people?

  This book just seems like a good starting point for eating disorders. It makes me so sad to see kids being so out of touch with what is healthy as opposed to what is socially acceptable.

  bleh. He may have had good intentions(or maybe he didn't and is just a creep wanting to teach girls about being skinny.idk). But either way- obesity is a problem and I'm glad he had her eat right and exercise to lose the weight and not do other things. (like not eat or something) Although, I wish it ended something about how the girl was able to do more sports, she felt better about herself, and she was healthier. Sure she could have made a few friends along the way but i dont think that should have been the main point.

  PG#1 - 3rd cycle BFP. Team Green. HELLP syndrome @ 34 weeks.
  Later diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, possible link to HELLP.

  PG#2 M/C 3/14 - Surprise BFP 2/13. Beta's doubled every 52 hours from 3w5d-5w5d
  Viable pregnancy scan at 5w5d; 2nd u/s showed 2 days of growth in 7 but a HB of 120
  3rd u/s on 3/10/14 had no HB and baby had only grown 7 days over 14
  D&C 3/17/14 - complications - DX Retroflexed uterus, multiple tears to cervix
