1st Trimester

what do you think about Jolen bleach

i already posted this on the april board - but thought i'd try here too

so Im italian and hair is my number 1 enemey!! i hate it. I have lasered under my arms, wax my lip and eyebrows and i shave everything else. Except i have some dark hair on my stomach that i've always bleached and its works for me,

i asked my OB and she said jolen was fine - but i didnt mention to her that i wanted to do it on my stomach- does it get absorbed into the skin the same if i use it on my eyebrows or stomach? or is it more harm on the stomach area since im Pg.

i researched online and some people say its ok others say no. what do you think? would you use it?

DH doesnt know i have dark hairs on my stomach- GROSS- so for sono's and belly pics i dont want him to see... i dont even wanna look at it!

  • Personally, I wouldn't.  Especially not in the 1st tri. I would just use a bikini trimmer to take care of that for now. Or you can get that area waxed, as well.

  • Bless Your heart!  Know that you have a dark hair sister on here that spends countless hours plucking, shaving, and bleaching! I have dark hair on my stomach too- but I've always just left it alone.  Hubby doesn't seem to care.  He knows I'm dark headed and I have dark hair EVERYWHERE!

I encourage you to embrace some of it!  It's natural!  It's how we were made- and there's a pretty good chance your *maybe* daughter will deal with the same issues.  I can't imagine the amount of time and bleach it would take to bleach all the hair on your stomach!  I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this.  It didn't occur to me what to do with it for belly pictures.  I may just have to do a little "Photoshop" job on it :-)

Sometimes I wonder what I would do if I was stranded on a desert island without my tweezers and a mirror... my husband would really be horrified then.

Good luck with your hair management- and know you aren't alone!

  • All I can say is at least bleach has worked for you! I always got a reaction from any bleach or wax strips, so I just head for the good old trusty razor every now and then.

I can't say if bleaching your belly is safe or not, but I personally wouldn't chance putting chemicals there.

  • Another option is this thing...

You fit it over your hand and make small circular motions. It can take a while to cover a large area but, leaves the skin super soft. BUT! I'm not sure how it does on thick/course hair or how often on that type of hair. It might be worth reading up on the reviews.
