Me:
Pants/jeans. I am a total pear shape , and even when I am thinner, I have a hard time finding things I feel look flattering. So when I find something- I get it.
Shoes- not really fun-trendy-going out shoes anymore, but ones that are comfy ( and not too fug!) as I really never sit down at work.
Re: What are some things you will splurge on?
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
That is a GREAT splurge!

Nice!! What color?
This too! ANd thank you for reminding me that I need to call and make an appointment. lol
Hotels - I'm DONE with staying at cheap motels.
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!

This!
I also spend more on the kid's clothes and photography. Caroline has lots of heirloom dresses, and Parker will have the same (not dresses, obviously). I make up for that by getting most of her 'regular' clothes at a deep discount at Kohl;s.
I am addicted to our photographer. She is amazing, and comes to my house and takes a ton of pics and I love her much, much, much.
I am a runner, knitter, scientist, DE-IVF veteran, and stage III colon cancer survivor.
My biggest splurge was a purse for work - I travel to NY from time to time and have to look the part of a badas$ portfolio manager. Also, I did it to impress OrangeSmoke.
But I totally agree on the pants/jeans - if they fit well, I need to own them because not a lot fits me well!
Salon services... I have had bad experiences trying to save money there
Shoes for DD... cheap shoes just don't work for her, and I want her to be comfortable (I just wish I wasn't such a fan of shoes...
)
Produce and meat
Clothes- I'm a clothes snob- they have to come from a name brand store- not an outlet or not like a TJ Maxx or Ross.
Sunglasses- I spend WAY too much on sunglasses
Purses- I love so many- but usualy LV, Dior, or Chanel
Beauty Products- I will only buy MAC
Sigh... those are pretty!
(sigh because shoe shopping is not at all compatible with potentially moving to a new house and trying to get pregnant, potentially with twins!
)
DIES!
I read this quickly and thought you said "BOOBS"
Ha ha ha
TOTALLY AGREE on the shoes for DD- good shoes are so important.
And Salon Services- I had a bad experince when my hair turned pink from trying to let my friend dye it in college- I have learned my lesson.

You are the baddest portfolio manager that I know!

LOL my big splurge is I only buy Viva paper towels. I really live on the edge don't I?
I guess we splurge when we get a date night and go to a nice restaurant. I'm not big on materialist things because like pp I was raised with a single mom who barely could make ends meet. I think of everything as a car payment!

OMG - i totally did too!

Shoes-I have hard to fit feet, purse and photography for DS,
My hair product (but it lasts forever so it works out)
i am all about spending more on a few items vs. buying a lot of big items.
i will splurge on shoes and handbags because i see them as long term purchases. foundation wardrobe pieces also fall in this category like a little black dress, a great suit etc.
i am also a whore for overpriced sweat pants. i have never met a lululemon pant i didn't like and am also hooked on these cotton sweats by aiko. totally overpriced for what they are but i love them.
i also like "fancy" plain t-shirts. which is ridiculous because no one can tell the difference. however i don't consider these a splurge as the brands i like i can get wholesale through friends, so it ends up being comprable to gap pricing.
and vacations, i love me a fancy resort/hotel.
Not much, really. An occasional mani/pedi or nice dinner out. We tend to splurge more on food/wine than anything else and even that is rare these days.
Like pp I grew up pretty poor so it's hard for me to spend money on material things that I don't see as needs.
Ditto lululemon and hotels too, didn't think of those!
Dining out. A really really good meal is SO worth it to me/us.
My hair color. I could probably get it done for less, but I have a serious relationship with my colorist, and cannot imagine not having her to save my hair color from itself. :-)
DH splurges on work clothes and shoes - but he wears the tar out of them, so he needs the good stuff, and only buys a couple times per year. I, on the other hand, have always had a hard time spending money on clothes.
Because we're fancy like that.
This makes me feel better....as I read the responses, I was trying to think of what I don't splurge on! Clothes (incl jeans), shoes/boots, handbags and makeup/skincare are the items I would say I splurge on. I'm sure my husband would say there are many more items on my splurge list!
Food and vacations. There is nothing better to me than a relaxing vacay at a nice resort. I am a Ritz Carlton girl through and through!
When I was thin, I tended to splurge more on clothes, but now I figure why bother when I dislike the way I look so much.
I used to love to splurge on DH's work wardrobe (I am sucker for him in a nice suit, monogrammed, slim fit Brooks Brothers shirt and silk tie), but now he can go business casual and it's just not the same.
Ditto and Done...next Thursday, cut, foil, and style!
Ummmm, not much.
I once bought a very pricey sewing machine, and I am just now getting over the gulit even though I've used it a ton, saved a ton of money by making things and not buying them, and had it 5 years.
Other than that, we go to Disney World even though it is pricey, because we love it. So that's about it.
That's totally what I read too and I thought - you go!
