I've been pretty slack about feeding DD solid foods, but now that she's getting older I need to get my butt in gear with feeding her solids on a regular basis.
So, tell me, how much does your LO eat all day? How much milk and how often? How many solid feedings and how many ounces each time? Any snacks (puffs, melts, etc)?
While we're at it, tell me about your LO's solid food poops. Is it solid like an adult's would be, or is it still mush?
Re: Telling me about your feedings
7am- 6 ounce bottle
8am- 1/4 to 1/2 banana. He's recently started eating it right out of the peel.
11am- 6 ounce bottle
12pm- 2 ounces of purees and a handful of puffs, or whatever I'm eating. Usually a turkey sandwich. + sippy cup of water
3pm- 6 ounce bottle
6pm- 4 ounce bottle
6:30pm- 2 ounces purees and a handful of puffs, or whatever I'm eating. Right now he's eating chicken, potatoes, and mandarin oranges. + sippy cup of water
7:30pm- 4 ounce bottle
ETA: Poop- he goes through spells of dry tootsie roll poops and softer little-thicker-than-peanut buttery poop
I BF so can't help you with ounces of food, but when we first started solids I did 3 days each of rice cereal then oatmeal. Then I started to mix it with a fruit or veggie. Then about 2 weeks later I added a second meal.
8am - 2 ounces of fruit, sometimes with oatmeal or barley, or I'll give 1/2 banana, sometimes water in sippy
5-5:30ish - 2 or 3 ounces of a veggie or veggie/fruit mix, sometimes with oatmeal or barley + water in sippy (he hates rice cereal)
I have not done any snacks yet.
Poop has made my husband gag and tear, it doesn't bother me. My mom said he poops like a man, again doesn't bother me. It's usually more firm (but I think BF poop is different) and like Amanda said it's easier to clean - usually looks like whatever they've eaten LOL.
I'm like you I've been totally lazy about starting solids. I just decided this week I need to make a bunch of food and kick it in to gear. LO is a peanut so her pedi and I both think it's more important for her to get calories from formula/EBM now. If she has more than a couple oz of food a day she will only take about 15 oz of milk which is definitely not enough. I'm scared to death she's going to turn into an awful eater like DS, so maybe that's why I'm being so chicken sh!t about it.
Sorry
