Does anyone's dc use the PB Bento Box?

Today was the first time my dd used it and it was a total fail.  I sent her a salad, 1/2 sandwich, fruit, edamame, cookie.  The salad basically took over the whole box.  Shouldn't the lid be tight enough that food can't come out of it's own compartment?  I thought that was the whole point.

There's also the drink factor.  DD doesn't like how school milk tastes and isn't a big juice drinker.  I need to either send a thermos of our milk or water, but where to put it?

  • Our first use of it was today too for my girls.  I would think that big lettuce pieces, cucumber, wedges of tomato would stay in--but dressing or small shredded pieces would creep into other areas.  I did celery sticks w/ ranch in the little dipper, grapes, PB&J, string cheese & a square of chocolate.  No spills--actually DD#1s came back near spotless (she's almost 7yrs old)...but DD #2 was a bit messier (she left a lot of her food).  My girls won't drink school milk either...I send a metal water bottle with & it fits in the elastic pocket in the front.

  • Originally I was going to put the salad in the dip area but it was just too small.  My dd is also 7 but I know it got a very good shaking around.  (:

I didn't realize the front elastic could stretch that much.  I hope we can fit something in there, she was all teary tonight about the drink situation.  I think the cardboard is what makes the milk taste weird, I don't really like it either.

  • We've been using ours since last Wednesday with out any issues,  I have not tried a salad in there, though, I don't think I would do a salad with dressing in there, DS only gets water for lunch, I use the Thermos Funtainers, it fits in there perfectly and ( we have the bigger pocket), and stays cold all day long, and our kleen canteen fits in there too.
  • I think I need to spring for one of those funtainers.  My friend uses them and says they are the best.  I guess it will quickly pay for itself since she won't have to buy the school drink.

I was hesitant about getting them, but they are really great honestly, and easy to use by the kids, they have non character ones too. I got one at Target, Amazon also has them for free prime shipping.
