I just got back from my Day 5 Transfer today, and I daresay that I am feeling hopeful! My RE gave us a picture of our embryos (hopefully 1st baby picture) and told us that they were graded very well and that one showed expansion. He said that one was graded AB and the other BB. He also told us that there are going to definitely be 2 leftover to freeze, and that they are going to see if more will be frozen tomorrow.
During the procedure he said that my uterus was perfect and asked my husband and I if we were ready for twins. It was really neat to see the entire procedure on the ultrasound (there was a screen for my husband and I to see the insertion of the catheter, etc). The embryologist also gave us a petri dish, just like the one that was used to grow our little embryos, as a souvenir. She told us that the blastocysts really looked great and wished us luck. ![]()
Now, I know that this is not failproof, and that it is not a done deal. Several things still need to happen and that there is no guarantee. But almost just as likely that it'll fail, it may actually work!
Although my husband and I decided that we don't want to do another IVF cycle again, we have no problem with doing a FET cycle if we had embryos frozen. I feel great about the fact that if this doesn't work, at least we'lll still have a shot with a FET in the future. I couldn't have asked for a better IVF experience. I am really thankful that it is all over and that I have some good hope.
The only unfortunate thing is that I'm going to have to wait until September 8 to go in for a pregnancy blood test due to Labor Day and my work schedule! Does anyone know when might be a "safe" day to try a HPT? Should I not even bother and just wait until Sept 8 for the blood test?
Thanks in advance!
