Define "clean" lol. You can't use Q tips for a looong time so I use a cloth to clean them and use my fingernail to get out anything that looks waxy. I started that right away when we took him home from the NICU.

I guess you answered my question. Its too soon for Qtips so I guess I can do what you do as far as cleaning out anything noticable. Thanks
Your actually never suppose to use q-tips to clean out ears, not even your own. Doctors will tell you not to because it can actually push the buildup back in. That said I still clean my ears with them but just use a washcloth for DD.
But I absolutely do not put it anywhere near the opening of the ear! I just use a damp q-tip to clean the crevasses and stuff. It seems to work better than a washcloth for me, because I can get into the creases better.

I do the same thing. As long as you don't try to stick the damn thing down LO's ear canal I don't see the harm in using a q-tip

Me too. They have special q-tips so you can't actually get them into the ear.

I have the baby q-tips. They have a tiny regular q-tip top and then a big bulge part that won't let you go in far at all.

This. Don't use q-tips, even in your own ear. Using them to swab the folds of the ear is fine. Your ear wax will work its way out on its own (as will LOs).

I confess, I use a q-tip.
