Are your girly bits swollen? (TMI, obviously)

Maybe it's my imagination, but I feel like mine are. I feel like I need to sit on a bag of frozen peas or something. Anyone else? (gosh, I hope I'm not the only one)

  • Totally!  I'm glad I'm not the only one.  Things are changing down there for sure, so weird.

Ha!  Advice taken. ;)  I told my DH yesterday that it feels swollen, and he looked at me like "you're just now realizing this".  So I think he noticed before I did. lol

Too late for me. :/ At least it's good to know I'm not alone.

  • Me too. I spoke with my midwife about it. It's called Venous Congestion. In other words. We have varicose veins down there. He did say it will go away after delivery but it does put our legs more at risk for developing some that won't go away. So, take the advice on how not to get varicose veins seriously. Don't cross your legs, exercise..... That sort of thing.

  • YES!  SO weird!  I feel like I am very swollen down there.  I read the same thing about the veins...

  • HAHA!!  We were out to dinner with my parents, sis and bil.  It was a leisurely meal and I had been sitting on a hard wooden chair for some time and began to shift in obvious pain.  My mom leans over and whispers, "Do you have hemorrhoids?"  I said, "No, mom, 'things' are just a little swollen 'down there'."  I thought that would be enough explanation, but she gave me a look like she didn't get it and asked again what was wrong.  I wouldn't speak up and she wouldn't let it go.  Finally I just said, a little too loudly, "Things just don't fit where and how they are supposed to!"  She didn't ask any more questions...
  • I just posted about this too but deleted it when I saw this thread.

Doesn't it just feel so wierd ...

  • Oh me too!  So weird!

  • So not alone!!

I actually had my Dr. do an external exam to make sure everything was fine. The swelling hurts!!

Best advice I have received on the topic, from my nurse: Aside from icing as needed, wear PREpregnancy underwear whenever you can. This serves the same purpose as support hose for varicose veins.

I've been doing this for about a week now, and it helps me go longer between ice sessions.
