Trying to Get Pregnant

What kind of degree do you have/what are you going to school for?

My curiousity arose from a previous post, so tell me about your education/education plans.

Me- I have a bachelors in Behavioral Sciences and I am currently working on my second degree in nursing. Right now I'm leaning towards labor and delivery, but I would also love being a pysch nurse. (Hence the behav sci degree). Also, if I can somehow manage to work this out, I'd love to get a minor in english because I love to write. I've written four 'books'. And I say 'books' because they are not published in any way, just saved on my computer :)

  • That's so neat that you write! I'm not at all creative.

I got my BA in English then worked for 6 years. I went back to school for an MA in Cinema Studies, and am now working on a PhD in Media Studies. Basically, I heart school.

Siggy Note: Drunk Ron Swanson is on a break while Amy Poehler takes over for a while, summing up my thoughts on all this birth control, prenatal testing, women's issues stuff in the news.

  • Overachiever. Totally kidding! I think that is awesome. I have a teaching degree. I took some classes this summer to go back and get my BSN, but since DH got a new job that took him out of town AND we didn't know when he would get back, I had to kind of let go of that for now.

Eventually I would love to be an L&D nurse, or nurse educator. Love teaching, just don't love the school system.

  • I got a BFA in Studio Art Painting. Kind of wishing I would have gone with either Art Ed or Commercial Art, but I was a stubborn teenager when I picked my major and just wanted to paint, lol. So basically art is my "second job"/ hobby and my full time job doesn't require a college degree.... Oh well. Smile

I'm considering going back to get my PhD, but I've already quit that once (my Masters is a terminal degree), so I'm a little leery of going back. I think I would be doing it more for prestige than anything, since I would really like to be a SAHM (just gotta get that mon part taken care of). I sometimes wish I were going for a PhD because so many of my friends have them and I feel a little left behind and "unsmart" (ridic, I know).  But if I were really going to go back to school I'd want a DVM.  I know a ton about livestock care, but I wish I had the DVM to be able to take care of other people's animals -- and order my own meds!

I have a BA in History with an emphasis in social studies education. I hold a teaching credential in Social Studies, so a year of post grad work. I am debating between getting my national board certification or a masters in education, but I can't do  my national boards for another year due to getting screwed out of full year credits when I was hired at my first and now current job. I'm currently a middle school History teacher.

What is National Boards? I don't know any teachers, hs or elementary, with that certification. In MA, you need a masters no matter what after 5 years of teaching.
