Anyone NOT able to find the heartbeat with the Doppler?

Now I understand why my DH said he didnt want me to buy one. I just got it in the mail yesterday, and I couldn't find the babys heartbeat (could only hear my own). Anyhow, its quite nervewracking and I really wish I could find it! My doctor will not do another ultrasound until 16 weeks... Indifferent

I won't even try this early because I know that my uterus is tipped, and it's going to be difficult to hear until the baby is around 14 weeks.

Dont be discouraged, you are still pretty early to hear it with a home doppler. I tried mine last night and I didnt hear anything and I am further along. Its so hard not to be a nervous wreck but they arent as senitive as the ones at the doctors office and usually the home ones say to wait until 12 weeks.

Ya, I know that it is probably too early, but it seems like alot of people on this board were able to find it... hence my worry wart symptoms kicked in when I couldnt find the heartbeat. I have my first "official" doctors appointment on Friday so hopefully she will at least try to listen for it with her doppler. If not, I will need to learn some patience... *sigh* Good luck with your doppler!

My doctors office won't attempt to use the doppler to closer to 12 weeks. It's difficult to find and can be disappointing. It's still early, give it some time! I found HB with my home doppler right around 12 weeks.

Just put it away for a few weeks. My OB doesn't even try to find it until close to 11-12 weeks, and even then he says not to worry if we don't hear it, it's still early.

Thanks! I think I will try again next week, at 11 weeks. If its still a no-go, I will wait until 12 weeks before trying again. I will freak myself out if I try more often than that lol.

Ten weeks is early to find the doppler with our in-home ones. Some tips say full bladder, others say empty bladder and use a good bit of gel. I layed on my side last night to find mine, and I'm 12 weeks. I would try not to stress too much. (easier said than done I know) Maybe your baby was just a little lower, or higher, or on one side or the other. You may be able to find it in a few days. Big Smile

GL! And ditto pp on using lots of gel. I bought target brand KY jelly and it works great, haha!

I would not worry about it. My dr did the heartbeat for the 1st time today and it took her like 10 minutes to find it. My hubby and I did it with the doppler the other night and thought we heard a heartbeat but it sounded different today. Try again in a week or two. Good Luck
