Need advice...should I make an appt?

I'm not sure what to do. I've been having really bad m/s since Friday. I talked to a nurse Friday and she said to try the unisom and vitamin b6 combo and it didn't help much and I can't even get it down anymore. They told me unless I can't keep anything down for 24 hours than I should be ok but I just don't feel right. I can't take my vitamin and the last couple days all I've eaten is a few crackers and some applesauce. Last night I had some jello but couldn't keep that down and I can't take my vitamin either. I've been laying around the house for 4 days because I can't seem to get up and do anything. It's hard for me to even stand up straight and walk around normally. This morning I have already dry heaved two times and I tried to get down some water and applesauce but not much. I know I must be dehydrated. Am I being overly dramatic?? I just keep thinking that m/s isn't supposed to be this bad. And I can't possibly survive on a few crackers a day.

Sorry if I'm rambling but I'm at my wits end here and don't know what to do. I really want to get checked out just to make sure I'm ok.

Thanks for your help!!

  • I think you should definitely call.  That sounds like a major case of morning sickness and it is bad if you get dehydrated.  Some people do get morning sickness really bad and need help staying hydrated so I would call in a heartbeat.  I hope they can make you feel better!

  • I have a bumpie friend who is due mid feb...she went through the same thing.  She went to the hospital 2-3 times in first trimester.  That sounds pretty severe...I would definitely make an appointment and get in there ASAP and get some advice/relief!

  • I would call in. You might need an IV in order to get some fluids in you. Do you think it is m/s or maybe a virus. Regardless, I would call. Let us know how it goes.

  • I would definitely call. Even if it isn't necessary, it's better safe than sorry. Good luck and feel better!

  • Yep, call.  Your doc may be really receptive and even give you a prescription over the phone.

You shouldn't have to suffer like that.

  • You should definitely go in. There's a condition called "hyperemesis"--basically super horrible morning sickness--that is treatable but can be serious if left untreated. Don't let Dr. Google scare you, but it would be worth reading a little to see if your symptoms could be explained by that condition. (I've got no medical background whatsoever, just a close friend who had hyperemesis.) HTH!
