I read a post on here about a baby that had flipped back over, which was followed by a slew of people saying, Well my baby is sideways, or my baby is feet up. How can you tell??? I get relatively strong movement usually to the right of my belly button and in my pelvic floor at the same time. They both feel about the same, pressure wise. I can sometimes feel something round up at the top of my uterus but I can't ever tell if it's a head or a butt. For all I know she's doing a tumbling class in there b/c I can never tell what position she is in. Any tips?
Re: Baby Position, how can you tell?
I base it on where I am feeling the movement. If I am getting kicked or poked in the crotch, well, his head sure isn't down there. Also, he's noticeably had hiccups twice now which was another way to guess where his head was.
I'm not going to pretend to be an expert but I've had two monitoring ultrasounds within the past month and been correct both times. But you're right, it's still just a guess.
I had no idea what position LO was in until Saturday morning. I was laying on my side (so gravity had moved my extra padding out of the way) and there was this big, hard, round lump sticking straight out my side. I was like 'holy sheet!" and made Dh come and check it out. I wasn't sure if it was head or butt, but it was def too big to be an arm or foot! I had it again this morning, but on the opposite side and while I was sitting back on the couch. Big hard lump, way off to the side then it moved and my belly got squishy again. Then it came back again, but slightly up closer to my rib cage. I still feel movement way low, like on my cervix and bladder, so I think he's just moving all around in general and not specifically "head down". This is LO#1, so it's pretty much just guesses as to exact movement, whether it was head or butt, etc. I'm not going to worry about being head down until we get much closer to his due date. I'm just going to enjoy the hard lump.
