Finally making some headway on names!

So we have been at a total loss for a name for LO.  I'm a planner, so it's been driving me nuts, but I'm trying to be chill about it.

MH liked Willow Kelsie.  I love both names, but they totally don't go together, IMO. Willow=earthy; Kelsie=cheerleader.  Those are gross generalizations, but that's what I think in my mind.

At any rate, here's what we're thinking now!

-Willow Adelaide.  Or Adelaide Willow?

-Kelsie Leigh

I kinda want to bang my head against a wall because those names are so totally opposite of each other.  But MH & I are kind of a mix between earthy, redneck, and bubbly/outgoing, so both names would fit.  I'm thinking we may just see what she's like when she's born, but I hate not having a name to call her by when I talk to her!  lol-- patience is not my strong point.  :)

  • Willow Adelaide flows nicely.

  • I love the name Willow!!
MH says it's the hippie in me :)

I'll never get to use it though because our first son will be named Will (family name) :)

I totally hear you on the Earthy+Cheerleader combo not working :) haha!
I don't love Willow Adelaide (or Adelaide in general).
    Other ideas:

    Willow Sage
    Willow Lorelei
    Willow Brooke
    Willow Anne

I forgot to give thoughts on Kelsey. I don't love it.. it's a little dated IMO but if you do - I much prefer this spelling (Kelsey). JMO

  • I like Willow. My SIL says if she ever has a daughter they are naming her Willow.
Rachel, mama to Ava (6), Olivia (4), Nora (2), and baby#4 on the way.

  • Do you like Willow Leigh? I am so-so on Adelaide but definitely dislike Kelsie unless you spell it Kelsey. The "ie" is just way too cutesy for me.
  • i LOVE Willow. at first glance i read the first name as Willow Kate, rather than Willow Kelsie. I think Willow Kate sounds beautiful!

I agree with PP, Kelsie seems dated and a bit too cutesy. I like Adelaide a lot, but i don't feel the flow with Willow. Plus, I think there are more than enough baby Addie's out there. JMO! From how you describe you and your husband's personalities, I think Willow something is perfect :) What about using your first name as the middle name?

  • I LOVE the name Adelaide. DH nixed that one really early on though :( Anywho, Willow Adelaide sounds nice together!

  • I LOVE pp's suggestions of Willow Kate and Willow Leigh.  I don't love Kelsie or Adelaide.  They aren't side-eye worthy or anything, just NMS.  Good luck!

I have heard of people waiting to name a baby after seeing him/her to see if a name fits, but newborns change so much in the first month or so that I don't really think they seem more one name than another initially.  (That may be flame-worthy, but it's just my opinion!)  I absolutely loved calling DD by name during pg, and it helped me (and many others mentioned this too) feel like I already knew her at birth.  Again, each family has to do what works for them, but this was just my own experience.

  • I don't care much for Willow personally, only because I have hard time taking someone named Willow seriously. I do know a woman named Willow but I find the name and the person to be a big disconnect for me.  I like Kelsie Leigh. It may be a little dated but I just feel like it's more versatile. I like Adelaide the best out of all of them. Smile
