A fertility clinic shuts down (not mine, thankfully)

Well I'm glad I wasn't going to this clinic (sorry, don't know how to do that linky thing on here so you may have to copy/paste). I feel bad for the couples who've lost money without even receiving treatment.

This was my RE and my clinic! She was also with SIRM in Sacramento.

I wasn't cheated out of any money, but the way the office closed was very rushed and unorganized.

Also, I found out because the money was running out, they had the bottom of the barrel embryologists working there. The embryologist I met with was no longer running the lab.

After the fact I found out that they froze my 13 frosties in only 2 straws. My current RE told me not to even think of those frosties for right now. Another ex EBF patient who is seeing my current RE had 20 frosties, new RE thawed them and only 1 of those embies was viable. It's awful.

What kills me is the emotional part of this all. Dr Snowden told me the only way she thought I would get a take home baby is to hire a surrogate. I was devestated. I felt as if I had been kicked in the stomache. When really, she had a bad lab.

My new RE said she has gotten over 90% of the EBF patients who have come with her pregnant on the first try.

It's all so frustrating!!!

Oh my! I am glad you did not lose any money or get cheated out of but I can't imagine the emotional investment. I'm glad to hear you have a new RE now.

I thought I checked everything out. I did research. The clinic was beautiful. Everything was brand new and high tech.

I was referred to Dr Snowden by a friend. She had beautful twin girls from her first IVF cycle. But then again, that was before the money was running out. And the good embryologist was running the lab.

They closed the practice in May, literally two days after my ET. I was given instructions on what to do for a positive and a negative beta and also perscription refills to fax in if I needed them. They had the after hours emergency line open, if you needed to call in, but really, I just felt abandoned.

I hate to think of my 13 frosties sitting in a long term storage facililty in Nevada. They are probabally not viable but I'm torn with what to do with them. So right now they sit.

It's all pretty devestating, but my mom tells me not to dwell on the past. There is nothing we can do to change it, so just think of the future and this next cycle.

I feel so bad for the people who have been cheated out of their money. IF treatments are so expensive and this could be costing them the chance at having a family. It's horrible. Even worse, Dr Snowden had been through IF treatments HERSELF. So the fact that she would rip off other IF couples makes me sick to my stomache.

Oh my gosh! What a fiasco! I am so happy you got out of there without major monetary losses, but I am still so sad for you and all of her patients. What a horror story
