I smoked on and off since high school....thankfully I've always been what I consider a social smoker, I smoked at the bar, on breaks at work or when I was stressed and upset. I sometimes had a pack on me all the time, other times I just bought a pack when I "needed"it, but I've never been anything close to a pack a day smoker.
I've quit tons of times in the past, but something stressful always sent me back. I meant for my last one to be on my wedding night (October) so I could have several months without it before TTC, but after three months cold turkey I got stressed and went back to it. But I've now been completely smoke free since April 29...just a week before we started TTC, but you've got to start somewhere right.
I find it so much easier to quit for the sake of a baby....kinda sad that its harder to quit for my own health. So anyone else recently quit to TTC?

Re: Any ex-smokers?
I have kicked the habit a few times. I most recently quit one year ago, but not for TTC, I quit for myself. It is damn hard to quit smoking. I'm glad I did, I feel a heck of a lot better. I still have dreams about smoking every now and then, but I don't really get cravings anymore. The only two times I was previously able to quit relatively easily were the two times I was unexpectedly pregnant. A few days before my BFPs I was becoming extremely ill every time I lit up, and the minute I took a test and found out I was pregnant, I quit smoking completely. The fact that smoking was making me sick helped quite a bit, heh.
Good luck on your decision to quit smoking! It isn't easy, but you'll feel so much better. Plus, you'll save money!
EDD 07/29/2017
Quitting smoking was the best decision I could have ever made! I haven't had a cigarette in 2 years. I started smoking when I was 13!!! Crazy and I was smoking a full pack every other day by the time I was 18. By the time I quit, I had been smoking for 12 years. My husband and I decided to quit together for our health and to save money. A pack of cigarettes in NY is over $10. I'm not sure how anybody can afford that habbit.
I used chantix to help me quit. I am allergic to the patch and the gum never helped. I spoke to my doctor about quitting and he suggested chantix. I took it for about 3 months. With out it there would have been no way that I could have quit. I had a horrible headache the 1st week I took it and some odd dreams here and there but really no other side effects. I never suffered from withdrawal - it really made quitting so easy. I never get any cravings.
Now that we are TTC I am so relieved I gave it up awhile ago. Best of luck to you. It's hard but it can be done!
