I need your thoughts, please. I'm not a fan of chocolate cake, but my friend whose shower I'm hosting is. She's also a big fan of bavarian cream. I picked up a tub of it at a bakery outlet yesterday to possibly use. So, would bavarian cream be good with chocolate? What about if I did white and chocolate cake with bavarian in the middle to appeal to any other weirdos like me who aren't chocolate fans and to add another flavor? Does that sound appealing? Or icky? Tell me what kind of cake to make, please
Re: Question about cake flavor
It is funny you ask that as I'm doing a wedding cake in September that has 2 white layers with bavarian cream in the middle, so no that combination is just fine. White and chocolate together would be just as yummy with the bav. cream. It sounds like you have it all under control!
ETA: I'm also doing a chocolate layer torted with red raspberry filling too which is uber yummy! Just a thought! Good luck to you!!
Are you doing a singleton or like tiers? I would say white cake with the Bavarian cream and chocolate with raspberry filling, if you are doing two tiers. (I don't love chocolate cake either, but I do like it with raspberry!)
Oh and don't forget my red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting when you are done with the BS cake. Bridal Shower... not the other BS
ETA: ZOMG, as I was typing this, BabyBear was typing almost the same thing...
Chocolate cake? Good. White cake? Good. Bavarian cream? Good.
I really don't see how you can go wrong here!

I like the idea of white and chocolate with the bavarian filling. To me it is the best of both worlds.
Now my sweet tooth is kicking in, must find a delish afternoon treat.
LOL, only his would be all meat products!! I love that show!
I totally did! I am a Friends-freak though... so I don't know that I would by a typical person.
HAHAHAHAAH!!!! I thought I felt someone rootin' around in my brain just now!
Yes, it's just one tier. I would definitely do to, but I think the size of the shower doesn't really support making a big old cake, though I;m sure her fiance would gladly take care of the extras. However, if I decided to get crazy and do it anyway, chocolate with raspberry sounds delish.
Sounds like a w hite and chocolate layer with cream in the middle gets a thumbs up. Thanks, girls!

I have exited... you may have your thoughts back to yourself now!
You are describing a Boston Creme cake! Mmmm - and they are delish! I used to make these at a bakery I worked at.
Here was our recipe.
Slice the cake in half like a sandwich.
Put down the bottom half and wrap a clear plastic strip around it that's about 2-3 inches taller than the cake.
Secure the plastic to itself with scotch tape. Spread the Bavarian Filling in the middle and place the top half of cake on top.
Then you can pour in melted chocolate icing on top (the plastic holds it in). We also did a fancy vanilla swirl, but you can decorate however!
If someone makes cake, I'm eating it... Pretty much no matter what
It all sounds delicious to me, BP!
I found this in my files. It's one I made using the directions above. Choc. Cake with Bavarian Filling! Good luck.
Much love to all of my magical ladies.
Haha! He'd be mixing in both the meat and cake. I miss Friends!

ha! He was... that line came from the trifle episode
And BP... I'm so with you on the chocolate thing. I'm not a fan of chocolate at all and think vanilla cake with bavarian sounds AMAZING. But to appeal to the masses, I bet a mix of chocolate/white is probably the way to go.
