Trying to Get Pregnant

Spotting 2-3 days before period...

I've been reading some posts that have me wondering about this. Ever since I got AF back after having my daughter, I spot for 2-3 days before actually starting my period (usually around 9 or 10 dpo). Is this an issue or something I should look into more? What is this generally related to (in your opinion/experience)?

Re: Spotting 2-3 days before period...

  • I don't have experience with spotting really, but I thought that lots of women spot a few days before AF, I believe my BFPB did almost every cycle. But like I said, I'm not 100% sure about that.

  • Ask your doctor and have it checked out.  In some cases it may be absolutely nothing and normal for you, but in other cases it can be an issue like a cyst or some other problem down there.  I don't think the board will be able give you a definite answer.

  • I spot a few days leading up to AF. I did on the pill and off, and I've been off since March. No biggie, but I think I did read it could be from a short Luteal phase, which I don't have. Everyone's different.
  • I have it every month, regardless of what birth control I am [or are not] on. I had it all 3 months I got BFPS. Some people are just spotters! It's annoying that's for sure.

  • I usually spot 1-2 days before AF.  Many women do so I'd say no big deal.

  • As others have said, it could be nothing. And it most likely is nothing.

However, it's also a symptom of low progesterone levels when the body isn't producing enough to sustain the thickened uterine lining.

Couldn't hurt to call the dr. All she'll do is a progesterone test about 7DPO.

  • I get brown creamy CM for a few days before my period.  It starts to get darker and more red as I approach my period.  I mark it as spotting since there is blood color to it.  I will mention it at my annual next month to see if my doctor is concerned.  Mine usually starts anywhere from 7-10 DPO.

  • I sometimes spot the day before my period comes, and sometimes I don't... it depends on the cycle for me. This was on while still on BC. This is my first month off, so I don't know yet as I am only CD21.

  • I spot for a day or two before and after my period. I mentioned this to my doctor at my last exam and he said it's not a big deal.

  • I've started spotting anywhere from 1-3 days prior to my period since coming off BC in January. I'm sure it's nothing, but will be mentioning next month at my annual. Like PPs, it's probably nothing.
