As you can see from my lovely ticker, I am a tad overdue. So, I decided, what the hey, sex and walking aren't doing anything, lets try the next thing on my list: Spicy foods! Yay! I love spicy food, and it gives me a great excuse to send hubby to Taco Bell. Now, I know what you're thinking, 'Taco Bell? So not spicy.' Well, with the addition of as many Fire Sauce packets as I could squeeze on there, it counts. Fire dripped from my chalupas like glorious, labor inducing gold (or so I thought...).
This was a learning experience, and I learned this:
1. Wow, acid reflux, I didn't realize you could get worse.
2. There is officially such a thing as too much fire sauce.
3. My LO does not like spicy food. Oh no, no he most certainly does not. He has never moved so much in his life. Ever. And my kidneys, lungs, diaphragm, and liver can all attest to that. I now know where all those organs really are.
4. Fire sauce lingers, right up to that next morning bowel movement. Joy.
So that happened... And I feel like an absolute moron. Anyone else have a natural method back"fire"? :-P
Re: Hmm... Yes, I believe that backfired.
WHAT!? Really?! My dad told me to try White Castle too, because it was my mom's last meal before I popped out. I thought he was nutso and it was just coincidence, but there's someone else out there who says it works, too? No way, small world. I must try this now, lol.
Ohh!! We don't have White Castle but maybe Krystal will work!! My mom said Chinese food was her ticket to labor ville! We shall see! If not, scheduled for induction Sunday
My guess is that it stimulates your bowls which can also trigger contractions, lol.

Ouch! Sorry you learned that lesson...
In our birthing class this week, the nurse said that some people do believe that spicy foods help induce labor, but in her experience it just helps pregnant women come to L&D with full, greasy bellies and causes some... err... bowel concerns during delivery. If you think about it, it makes sense because your body is so focused on the act of L&D that it's not concerned with digestion- whatever goes in must come out, either during labor or sit there uncomfortably until after...
She said walking is really the best thing to get your heart rate going and as a way to use gravity to help bring the baby down.
Good luck!
Posting from an Android sorry for any errors
All wives tales with the spicy food etc..sorry you were in distress
My 1st child didn't want to come out either, induction failed + CSection followed.
I have eaten spicy food non-stop this entire pregnancy. Can't help it, I live in South Korea, if you don't eat spicy, you don't eat much.
I actually freaked out my FIL last May by filling my plate up with pepperoncinis when I flew bag for my SILs wedding. (they don't have those in korea... and I love them peppers) I didn't even know it was an OWT until then.
Even if it doesn't put you in labor, it will give you the runs and clean things out so you won't poop when you deliver! HAHA!
Good luck! Hope "everything comes out ok!"
