Anybody want to talk names already?

This is very much premature, but do you have a name list yet? I've always been a little bit obsessed with names and I enjoy looking up meanings, origins, etc.

Heres mine-

Boys: Matthew, Benjamin, Jude

Girls: I'm clueless. I'm kind of liking Ruby and Molly, but I don't think those will make the final cut.

Re: Anybody want to talk names already?

  • DH is such a pain in the ass when it comes to names.  He won't talk names until we know the sex and then he won't commit to anything untiil the last minute.  He knows I have a big mouth and he doesn't want me blabbing to everyone.  LOL

However since my first two start with E and A I would love to stick with vowels.  The bad news, there aren't many options if we are sticking with vowels.  lol

For a boy I really like Owen, nothing for a girl.  Well I like Isabell, but I hate the nick names.

  • I, too, have always been obsessed with names.

Girls: I love Edith (nn Edie) and DH likes Reagan

Boys: I like Bennett. A boy will have the mn William because it's a family name for DH.

  • Girl: Joanna

Boy: not sure. My #1 pick is Julian, but H doesn't like it.

  • These are very likely to change as we have only begun to start throwing names out there but dh suggested Brandt for a boy and it's really growing on me. Also Easton because our ds' name is Everett. I'm  loving Joani for a girl but dh is not biting. The middle name would be Jean and I just think Joani Jean sounds cute! But who knows..

Boy: Gavin Alexander - My husband picked the name Gavin and I like my husbands MN so I decided we should give it to our LO if the baby turns out to be a boy.

This is my DH, too. Drives me batty.

And it's funny that you mention the vowel thing, because for me, it's the middle names that have to start with a vowel.

I have an Owen for a nephew and I had one in my class last year. Both adorable, nice boys.

  • DH and I love to talk names. I am sure this will change a 100 times in nine months but currently we are at Mabel Jean or Rose for girl (we would call her Masie) and Lincoln Paul for a boy.

  • Boy = Eli George

Girl is still up in the air.  I really liked Lyla Katherine when I was pg last time but I'm kinda not feeling it anymore.  It's gonna suck because we are team green but DH insists that he can't make anything but boys.  (There are a lot of boys in his family).

I don't know if it's just me, but when I click on your names list in your siggy, it just takes me to my names list. (I about had a heart attack when I thought all your names were the same as the list I had for DD#1.)

I love this name so much. This is my daughters name. But I wish I would have picked something else. I can't stand that EVERYWHERE we go there is an Ava.

Tell me about it. My daughter is Isabelle and every time someone calls her izzy or bizzy or any variation of the sort I cringe a little. I love my daughter and I love the name but HATE the NNs. I usually just call her by her middle name or her full first name (or both if she's in trouble... hehe)

     Boys: William James

Boy: Brentley William or Brayden William

  • Boy name has been picked since our last pregnancy Blake Arthur

Girl Not sure but we like Elise

  • Girl: Ila Josephine (named for both our great-grandmothers)

Boy: We still have some work to do, but my current fave is Caleb Austin.  Everyone we've told about the name Caleb has poo-poo'd it though...it makes me not want to share our name choices!

I also like Cameron, but DH is not sold.  We both like Owen, but his sister made fun of it because of 'Thrown Momma from the Train'...I would have never made the connection...haven't seen that movie in 20+ years!  I have a feeling agreeing on a solid boy's name will not be easy!

Is he a big fan of Game of Thrones?  Just curious, since it is the name of one of the characters on that series, that was at least the first time I had heard it.  I don't not like it, but I also don't love it I guess.  You could always compromise and use it for a middle name.

  • We will never agree on a girls name.  I love Ella Mae after my great grandmother, but DH has been refusing to get on board.  Boys names are easier for us.  I would like to use James as a middle name after my grandfather.  My DS #1 is named after my DH's Great Grandpa so it's only fair we use a name from my side of the family this time :)

Yea I've been trying to look at other names as options but I will probably wait to see what we're having before I stress it too much. I LOVE Ava as well but completely get what you mean. I run into Isabelles (or Isabel or some variation all the time) and yet I can hardly ever find any personalized stuff. For christmas I wanted to get monogram charms for stockings and could not find an "I" for the life of me.

  • We haven't really started talking names too much.  I'm only 5 weeks right now, but here's what we have discussed:

Girls - Alexis or McKenzie.  Middle name is Irene after my grandma who died before I was born.  I have wanted Alexis forever, but am not totally sure anymore.  I also really like Isabella and Ava, but worried about their popularity.  DH wants McKenzie.  I'm not sure how I feel about it.  He is determined that if we have a girl it will be Alexis or McKenzie and there is no room for negotiation....we'll see about that :)  lol.

Boys - have no clue.  I really like Cooper and Noah.  DH likes Brayden, but I'm REALLY not a fan of that name.  I would like the middle name to be Austin after the son we lost, but not a whole lot of names sound good with Austin as a middle name, so I don't know where we'll end up with the boy name.

  • For a girl we like Nora Lynn.

For a boy I like Zander Reuel (MN is DH's name)

DH likes the girl name, but likes Maverick James for a boy with NN of MJ...I am not so sure what I think of it though...

  • Girls names are so much easier for us! Our #1 girl name is Leighton. MN not 100% about, but I like Leighton Lynn....and Lynn is a family name. Boys name #1 is Linden. However, I'm not completely sold on it because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Leighton, and I don't like Leighton and Linden together. So... My dilemma....if this baby's a boy, I don't want to name him Linden, because I'm still holding out for a Leighton. But what if I NEVER get a girl, and I never use Linden!? Ugh.... I wish we could find out the sex at 5 weeks! :-)

  • Boy:  Thomas John

Girl:  I don't know.  I like several names (Charlotte, Kayla, Annabel, Isabelle, Laurel, Josephine), but DH won't discuss it because "we're having a boy."  ::insert eye roll::

  • For a girl I like the names - Harper, Willow, Ava, and Lainey.  DH likes the names - McKayla, Riley, and Genevive.  I don't like any of those names at all.  For a boy we agree a little more.  I like the names Julian, Cayden, Jack and Finley.  He also likes Julian and likes the names Miles and Jackson.

We have a long way to go and I'm sure the list will change.  One of my favorite girls names Ava, is so popular on all the lists, but I have never actually met an Ava. I'm sure right after you name your child from a "most popular" names lists you start seeing them and hearing that name all over the place.

  • We've been talking names for the last year or two so I'm hoping picking names won't be too much of a struggle!  A few ones we like..

Girl - I love Suzanne after my mother.  No joke but DH likes Neveah which is not happening.

Boy - Sean, Tyler, Brent, Brandon, but I think Sean is on both of our #1 lists.

  • For a boy we pretty much decided - Patrick Alexander (Patrick is a family name for H) (Alexander is a family name for me)

For a girl we haven't agreed on anything yet.  I like Emma Rose (Rose is a family name for H) And I just love the name Emma, so I'll be pushing for that one :)

  • I tend to go around and round and our baby will probably not be named any of these... DH likes everything because he just can't wait to have a baby haha (which i totally adore about him!)

For girls I really like- Harper Grace, Clara Anne, Teya Grace, Sophie, Jocelyn, or Evelyn (Evie for NN) (good thing we have so many to choose from)

For boys I like Jackson, Damien, Oliver, Bruce (I know nobody will like that... but I think its manly!), Aubrey, or Emery ...middle name would probably be Tilden (looong time family name for DH, but it doesn't sound good with anything except for Jack and Bruce!)

Who knows! It sure is fun to talk about them :)
