We may be going on a 7hr road trip and I need ideas of what type of easy foods to bring along...
Any tips on how to keep food warm?
I did this trip last year but she was younger and drank mostly milk. I was a nervous wreck but the trip was very worth it. I am nervous again this year but think it will be better with an older toddler, plus we are leaving in the evening so hopefully she sleeps most of it....
Any tips, advice, welcome!
Gracias!
Re: Need toddler food ideas for a 7hr car ride...
For food in the car the last trip we did a lot of cereal in snack traps (cinnamon Life is their favorite) and raisins (brown, yellow, yogurt-covered, etc). String cheese is also another good one that's not too messy.
I'll be stalking this post too to try and find some good ideas... :-)

Turkey and cheese in the cooler.
Fruit, cut it up if you need to and throw in the cooler.
Stop at Wendy's for a baked potato.
Goldfish crackers. Graham Crackers.
String cheese. Laughing cow on a cracker. Fruity snacks (those always make my child happy to I kept the for emergencies).
Earth's best makes fruit and yogurt smoothies that are shelf stable and they are great!
String cheese
Snack trap of cheerios, fish, dried fruit
ETA: we also built in family friendly stops along the way to get her out of the car and feed her a meal. Applebees and Cracker Barrel are some of our roadtrip food standbys - you can do grilled cheese and steamed veggies at Applebees and at CB we always do whole grain toast, eggs and fresh fruit for E.
We just did a 7 hour car trip 2 weeks ago. I was a nervous wreck too...but I was pleasently surprised. Here is what I packed:
Ham and cheese in a cooler
Milk in a cooler
I small can of veggies with a tab top (no can opener needed.) Ethan ate them fine not being warmed. The were pretty warm from being in the car
Graham crackers, goldfish, and ritz crackers to munch on when hungry
Water
We also stopped along the way. It gave him a chance to walk around, get some energy out, stretch. We stopped for lunch both times on the way to the beach and on the way home.
We easily ordered him lunch (hot dog on the way there and chicken tenders on the way home.)
