plastic surgery?

Would you consider getting plastic surgery? If so, any recommendations?

Re: plastic surgery?

  • I would only consider it on a person who has a lot of loose skin (from weight loss) or personally on my tummy (after I am 100% done having kids) and lost all the weight I possibly could. (Realistically I never would though.)

  • No, I wouldn't get plastic surgery.  But I will be getting braces in my 30's which is always fun! Unfortunately it's not for cosmetic reasons but because I can barely chew my food due to TMJ and over crowding.

  • I have already informed DH that is my tummy is not back to normal by the time DD is two, I am getting a tummy tuck/lipo and he really doesn't have a say in the matter. My body, my money, my decision. Not that he said he didn't agree as he is also tired of listening to me complain about my tummy and how most of my wardrobe no longer fits. (I have probably a few thousand dollars worth of clothes that I can't wear but don't want to give up hope on).

  • If I lose the 80-100 pounds I want to lose and keep it off for a few years, I will probably want to get everything lifted up so I can feel good about the body I worked hard for.   No point in lifting stuff up right now since what they'd lift up I'm hoping to shed.  :)

  • What are you considering? I've had plastic surgery and would be happy to share my experience with you and tell you my doctors name (and anyone else that wants it). Just PM me.

  • In a perfect world, I would get a tummy tuck, a breast lift, and lipo on my arms so that they were pretty, feminine arms and not masculine, built for hard labor arms! But unless we win the lottery, those are all just pipe dreams.

  • I had a tummy tuck in April.  Having two kids--the second of whom was over 10 lbs at birth--did damage to my muscles and skin that no amount of diet and exercise could fix.  The fascia at the midline in my abdomen was torn through and I had a hernia.  My waist is a full 6 inches smaller now (back to pre-baby proportions).

My surgeon was Dr. Drew Welk at the Polyclinic in Seattle, 206-860-2317.  I highly, highly recommend him.  Very qualified, very well-priced.  He even gave my husband his cell phone number and told us to call at any hour if I had any post-surgical complications.

  • I had cosmetic surgery in 2008, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself.  I had been insecure and unhappy with my body my whole life and when I hit 30, I decided that I had lived with it long enough.  My husband was on board, we saved for a few months, and then went for it.  I'd be happy to answer any questions.

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
  • I had a very extensive tummy tuck in 2002 - Dr. Egrari in Bellevue did it.  I had lost 130 pounds (Gastric bypass in 2001) and had skin hanging down on my thighs.  That surgery did more for me personally than losing the 130 pounds did.  I finally had a body that, while still larger than "average", was "normally shaped" and I was thrilled with how I looked.

I wish I could talk myself into some lipo on my thighs but truthfully I haven't done "my part" in getting them into shape.  I still (even pre-pregnancy) am carrying an extra 50 pounds that until that's gone, I don't know what 'shape' my thighs will be in after I accomplish that.

And my boobs.  I'm 90% sure I'll get them done once I wean this little one.  They were saggy and "deflated" before I had baby and now - with as big as they've gotten nursing, I can't imagine what shape they'll be in after I wean.  They were already tube socks with sand in the toe...and I've joked all my life that I would get a boob job at 40 (ok - I'm past that....but...well...).  DH is behind me 100% (he knows how I feel about my boobs and their sad state - and he's not a boob guy so there's not much benefit for him).  Finances will be the sticking point....

  • After I am done having children, I would love to get a breast lift.  I can't even let DH see me without a shirt on at this point. : (

  • Dr. Egrari in Bellevue did my reduction in 2005 and I am in process of saving for a tummy tuck (again. sigh....). He does a lot of post weight loss re-sculpting, so he's the guy I'd recommend if you want things lifted/reduced/tucked.  I'm sure he does great work  making things bigger as well, but smaller seems to be his area of expertise.
  • Totally. I've already had lipo about 5 years ago and will be getting my boobs done after we're done with kids. Might get a tummy tuck if one is necessary after baby #2. I don't have any recs though because I'm originally from CA.

  • I would!

I have been thinking about a breast reductin for years, but knew I would wait until after having a baby so that I would be sure I could nurse. After I'm done with nursing we've already agreed that I can get this done. I'm a little scared since it sounds like a nasty procedure, but if it gets me down to a reasonable size (I'm a DD which is a lot on my frame) and helps with my back/neck issues it will be worth it! I wouldn't object to a little tummy tuck if it's needed either. ;-)
