I'm almost 30 weeks and I can't find a somewhat comfy position to sleep in. I'm a tummy sleeper, and I've kind of been sleeping on my stomach/on my side, but with most of the weight on my side (body pillow kind of under the belly). I've been waking up every hour or so to pee, and my belly hurts when I wake up. Not like contraction hurt, just sore. I'm wondering if I am really waking up because of my positioning.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to sleep?
Re: How did you sleep in the 3rd Trimester
Just get pillows, take a Tylenol, and try to find a comfy position, for me there wasn't much I could do at 30+ weeks to get comfortable.
Agree with all of this. I have found that using my body pillow on the front and putting a pillow behind my back helps some!
I agree with the "lots and lots of pillows".
Also - once I got far enough along (and the heartburn / indigestion and hip pain got bad) - sleeping in the recliner was the best. I could sleep mostly elevated to help with the indigestion and for those emergency bathroom trips - putting the recliner down helped me launch out of "bed" - which was much less painful
it takes me a while to find a good position to fall asleep in, and i'm definitely tossing and turning all night.
i sleep on my side with my PG pillow between my legs, a wedge under my head (to keep it a little elevated for acid reflux), and i spoon a regular pillow. sometimes i also put a pillow behind my back for added support,
to be honest, i sleep best after DH leaves in the morning - i get to sprawl over the whole king-size bed!
I try not to drink too much within a hour or two of bedtime to help with the bathroom trips. but for positioning the only way I have found, is similar to what your doing. I sleep on my side and put 2 pillows under my top leg and I sort of kick it over the pillows so I am more on my stomach but the pillows hold up the wieght so I am not laying on my stomach. It is hard to describe. I have found for being a stomach sleeper that is the most comfortable. Good luck :-)
Oh also I noticed on days that I walked or did a lot I slept a lot better so may type going on a walk in the evening. I also don't nap during the day so by bedtime, I am so tired I just pass out right away and usually can get 5-6 hours without waking up to pee or reposition.
Oh yeah! I remember those days.
I'd start off in my bed, off to bathroom in middle of night, then move to guest bed, off to bathroom, then move to the glider in boys room, off to bathroom, then on to the couch/recliner in family room, off to the bathroom again, and end up in my bed early morning.
That was my nightly routine, and as you can prob conclude, I didn't sleep much, and haven't since! : )

Right there with you. I use a snoogle and other pillows and usually get up sometime in the night and move to the sofa for a couple of hours, then back to the bed.
I have an awful summer cold and took some Benadryl last night b/c its' on my Drs OK list and actually slept wonderfully...guess we can't do that every night thought
Not well.
I was off work at 28 weeks so I took naps if needed if I slept really crappy at night. It only got worse until the boys STTN.
I slept much better in the 3rd tri than in the 4th ;-) Seriously - this is true.
Also - slept propped up on a 15-30 degree angle (sprang for a wedge from "Relax the Back") and with a body pillow b/w the legs. Also - tums. Lots of tums.
