Question about calcium once weaned from the bottle

For the past 2 days my son has been bottle free.  He was down to one before bed and so far without it, he hasn't been too upset.   He drinks mostly water throughout the day and will take some sips of milk but definitely prefers water.  Without that 8 oz bottle, I am wondering if he is getting enough calcium/nutrients.  Should I be trying to get him to drink 8 oz throughout the day in a sippy cup or just up the calcium elsewhere. TIA!

Re: Question about calcium once weaned from the bottle

  • When Grant weaned off the bottle it took him a couple weeks to build back up to a good amount of milk. In the meantime I tried to give him more yogurt and cheese than usual. Eventually, he went back to drinking a lot of milk.

  • Keep encouraging milk in a sippy and try to include extra calcium other places. A few days short on calcium isn't going to make a big difference as long as he catches on to the sippy eventually. DD drinks 18-24 oz of milk/day (pedi said 24 oz is max recommended) and probably about 16-20 oz of water (we don't give her juice). She is generally a great eater.
  • Maybe try to cut back on water for a little while? If he's really thirsty he might drink more
