DS is 3 months and I EBF but were are getting him used to the bottle for when I go back to work in a few weeks. How much does your BF baby eat when you give a bottle. DS seems to only do about 3 ounces.
At his 2 month appt. he was 13 lbs. That was a month ago. I know they should have 2.5 ounces per pound. I just don't know if it's just hiim transitioning to the bottle.
Somewhere between 3 and 4 ounces per bottle. BF babies often eat smaller amounts less often from bottles, since that's what they're used to when eating from the boob.
My LO gets 2-3 expressed bottles per day (pediatrician is concerened with his growth and wants me to assess how much he is eating on a regular basis).
Sometimes he only eats 2oz, other times he will have 5oz. I have learned that if I have to stop to refill and warm more milk he usually wont go back to drinking. I have learned to fill the bottle with more than I think he will have so he always has an option of more.
First bottles started at 3oz when she was 2 months. She is now onto 4.5oz every 4 hours at daycare and I EBF when we are at home. If for some reason I dont have enough for her, sometimes at night if she is clustering, we make her another bottle from the stash. I give it to her, but she takes if laying on my lap/chest facing out. She holds the bottle herself.
Thanks....this sounds just like my first son. He'd take just enough to take the hunger away and then nurse a ton when I was with him. He'd tank up in the morning, after work and before bed. Seems like DS#2 will be the same.
