Fridge before freezer ?

How long can I keep mlk in the fridge before storing in the freezer. I ave to stock up for work in 3 weeks but I can only seem to get 1 oz every tie I pump. I just stared so I am hoping I will get more. I would like to freeze 3 oz t a time. But this might take a whole day. It this ok.

Re: Fridge before freezer ?

  • This is definitely ok.  Fresh (not previously frozen) BM can stay good in the fridge for 8 days.  Check out this site for more reference for storage.

  • That's fine, I did that quite a bit too.  I just collected everything in the fridge and then aliquoted it out into 3-4 oz. bags.

  • Totally fine. I usually store whatever I've pumped in the fridge for a day or two before I put it in the freezer, in case I need it (since BM looses some antibodies being frozen and I'd like to use fresh whenever possible). I always try to get it in the freezer by day 3 at the latest but it's fine in there for a week if need be.
