A Friday Snark

One of the newly-expecting moms (11 weeks) on another board I frequent just asked if it was safe for her to watch an IMAX movie in 3-D.

Now, admittedly, this is a board for woman who've struggled with infertility and most of those of us who've made it as far as pregnancy have some horror stories to tell that make us extra cautious during pregnancy.

And perhaps hormones are making me less compassionate than I should be.

But, good Lord.  Hmm

  • I remember in the 1st tri going to a 3-D movie with DH, and afterward I had a three day headache (which I never been prone to). That's the only precaution I can think of. No way it'll hurt the pregnancy, but she might be wishing she could pop a few ibuprofen afterward. Regular two dimensional movies have been fine, and who knows? I might be the only one who has reacted this way to the 3-D. I say it's fine.

I'm not a huge fan of 3D movies.  They're not headache inducing to me, but I can see how they would be.  Avatar was the only one I thought looked really good.  The other ones I've seen looked weird (in a bad way).

LOL to the OP though- LO will jump around a bit during movies, but I'm pretty sure he's fine. Wink

  • I can't deal with 3D movies. I get the worst head aches from them and my eyes hurt when it's over.

But that had nothing to do with pregnancy---In fact I wasn't even pregnant the last time I saw a 3D movie.

I understand that people have questions about what's safe and what's not during pregnancy. We all want what's best for our LO. But seriously, some things just need to be thought through before they are asked.

  • I *think* there was some news report saying that prolonged 3d exposure (the new 3d tvs) can eventuallyy cause people to have seizures.. But really one movie wont kill yyou..

FWIW my grandparents have a 3d tv and the dvds are freakin epic.. way better than imax :) imo
  • Hahaha, I'd be wanting to ask what exactly she thinks the movie's going to do to her baby??

And I'm with you - hormones do not make me compassionate lol.  I used to bite my tongue, but now my thoughts fly out of my mouth before I finish thinking them!!
