Who has convertable car seats? Do they like them?
DS is rapidly growing out of his infant car seat. I've heard which ones are particularly BAD but no one has recommended ones that are GOOD. We will also need to buy 3 or 4 (my car, DH car, my mom's car and MIL's car) so trying to get one that is safe and easy to use but affordable.

Tons of reviews, articles and a list of recommended seats.
We love our Brtiax seats, but there are other really good seats out there too.
ETA: If you are buying that many, then you might want to go with the Cosco Scenera. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it is a good seat for the price. It can be a pain to install rear-facing though, so you might want to watch some videos online and then have it checked out by a tech.
Did you ever think about buying one car seat that is appropriate for your child but then just buying extra bases? Even the bigger car seats have bases.
Also I would advise find the one you would like and buy it online. I buy a ton for my daughter off of like amazon and save a ton there is also amazon mom you can sign up for that gives you free shipping for like 6 months.
There is only one convertible seat that has a base. It is the Graco Smart Seat, and it isn't cheap. She could buy 4 of the Cosco seats for less than she would likely spend on one Smart Seat.
We have and love our Britax Marathons! We bought 2 of these and then a cheaper but still good seat for the grandparents car. You could do a combo--buy the ones you like the most for you and DH and then a cheaper option for the others (assuming little one rides more with you and DH). FYI--I think albeebaby dot com is having a Britax sale right now and free shipping.
Thanks! I knew there was probably a website out there with recommendations without gettting a consumer reports supscription.
I think I probably will do a combo- cheaper seats for the grandmas and better seats for us. Thank you!
