Teething symptoms? bad rash?

in Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

DD has had VERY bad poop and a bad rash too. She is cutting molars and all four spots are swollen and she flinches and yells no when I touch them. She is having gross poops and cries a lot when I change her. DS didnt do this, is it normal to have nasty poops and rashes when teething?

    rash where? like a diaper rash?

    ...I think LO does get a very mild diaper rash when teething but I'm not sure the logic of it...

    I'm not sure if we went tru the same thing last week, DS had poop issues the entire week, it wasnt liquid it was creammy but he was pooping about 7 times a day he is usually 1 a day maybe every other day, and had a rash from all the pooping and was and i was looking a his gums yesterday and he is not only cutting 4 more teeth in the front (he only has 4) but he his gums in the back looked swollen. Maybe is normal!

    I could have written this post about DD. This is the second time that she gets a diaper rash with teething.

    on her bottom, i think its the drool that makes the poop more.

    Yes teething can cause bad rashes and its different from a fungal rash- its more acidic.  My doctor explained it to us that when teething they have excess drool and so they swallow a lot of drool which causes their poop to be more acidic and thus causes a burn like rash.  They're stool is more soft, runny and they occasionally will have "dumps" (meaning poop 3-4, plus times a day).  We found just using cornstartch with no creams cleared it up faster than anything.
