what baby boy clothes are you hanging up?

We are having a little boy and I am in the washing everything phase of nesting.  As someone who is a FTM and grew up with all women, I am baffled by some of this boy stuff including the very silly question of what even gets hung up in the closet versus what just gets folded in the drawer.  So far I have just hung up two little hoodies because they are hard to fold and the long-sleeve, long-legged sleep onsies because they also fold awkwardly.  I think the rest of the onsies and little outfits would just be folded in drawers but then the closet is so empty.

If you are having a little dude, how did your arrange clothing?

  • I have the onsies and pants in the dresser. The nice stuff like complete outfits, holiday ansembles, etc. get hung up in the closet.  Any sweaters, jackets get hung up too.

  • Onsies, pants, and jammies are in the drawers. All sweaters, jackets, one piece body suits, formal outfits, and of course his dinner jacket ( this cute little old man jacket I found at Janie and Jack) will be hung up.

  • A dinner jacket?  That is the cutest thing!  I now have a shopping goal.

  • I have very little hanging up -- just some of his nicer "outfits" that are mostly in bigger sizes. I have maybe 15 items on hangers right now.

I found that when DS was little, I preferred to have everything folded in drawers. That way, if I needed a quick outfit change while he was already on the changing table, I wouldn't have to pick him up, go to the closet, etc. I liked everything within arm's reach.

Now that he's older, I have a lot more hung up (most of his shirts, all hoodies, jackets, etc), and basically just have shorts and PJs in his drawers.

  • I hang nicer outfits, ie anything with a collar, and warm things that are too bulky for the drawers. I don't fold what goes into the drawers, but just stack everything up flat.

  • I hung up everything because I'm lazy and don't want to fold :) plus it keeps the wrinkles away.

Of course the little pants and undershirt type onesies are folded up.

    Mommy to three adorable boys!
