Question from 3rd Tri: Breech Babies

Hi ladies,

I'm wondering if any of you had breech babies that turned by themselves late in the game, like after 37 weeks? LO is complete breech and has been that way for most of the third trimester... we declined the external version, but I've been doing all the spinningbabies exercises and crossing my fingers that he would turn on his own. Anyone with success stories? Even if your baby didn't turn, I'd love to hear your experiences...

    Do you know if there are any obstacles preventing LO from turning? DD was breech from 20 weeks on due to a big fibroid that was in her way. Hence, we had a scheduled c-section. But, I've known for years that the fibroid might interfere with vaginal delivery, so I was mentally prepared for a c section.

    That being said, I have 2 good friends who both had breech babies that turned at the last minute. One turned while her mother was on the table getting prepped for the version. Another turned as his mother was getting her final scan before the scheduled c-section.

    Our girl was a constant flipper and it became the running joke at the Peri to bet on which position she was in before we started the ultrasound.  We had a version scheduled at 38 weeks but it didn't work because I had an anterior placenta and the Peri couldn't put enough pressure to get through it to make her flip.  We scheduled a c-section for the following week and when they were doing my last ultrasound as part of the prep, they found that she had turned herself head down.  Eventually she flipped herself back to transverse and we wound up with a c-section anyway, but she did go from breech to head down at least once in week 39.  Good luck!

    My baby was breech but didn't turn on her own so I had a c section.  My doctors though had said they have had quite a few babies that did turn on their own even at 39-40 weeks.  One was even a 10 lb baby that turned during week 39.
