LC:alternate position for heavy/long baby?

I have a My Brest Friend pillow and am familiar with the traditional positions, but do you have any creative positions for a heavy and long babies?  My son still has yet to have expert head control and I have a feeling his cumbersome body is contributing to a poor latch (mentioned in a previous post.)

  • Try "laid back" nursing - where baby is almost vertical on you, laying down on you.  And you, mama, are leaning back on a chair or couch.  Your arm is the pillow that supports him as his butt and hips are sort of in your elbow, under your breast by your ribs.  Or in the crux of your arm.

A big, long baby may also do well when his hip is lower to his head/shoulder plain ... so traditional cradle holds may not be he favorite spot.

How old his he?  Play around with it - let him crawl all over you, even if he's an infant - he'll squirm toward the nipple - and see where he lands.

    Have fun!
