3rd Trimester

36 weeks and baby's head feels like it's pinched a nerve? Yeeouch!

At my last appointment, Dr. said baby had officially dropped (yay!) and besides the increased need to pee from 500 to 5,000 times a day, I felt pretty OK.

Now, the past few days It feels like her head is a bowling ball pressing on a vaginal/cervical nerve. The pain is sharp and startles me when I walk, often causing me to stop and catch my breath. (Not convenient when crossing a busy street).

I have my next appt in a couple days, so I wasn't sure if I should wait and tough it out or if this is out of the ordinary? Anyone else out there experiencing this?

Thanks!

  • I call it lightening crotch... Although DH thinks its kinda funny. Like you said it hurts and can take your breath away. My midwife said as the musckles relax down there its not uncommon for nerves to be pinched. She made it sound like it is temporary and will pass as your joints relax. Sure hoping so... If your worried you can always call your ob's office for suggestions. :) G/L hope it gets better for you soon.

  • Yeah, I feel like someone stuffed a croquet ball up my vag at some point while I wasn't looking. I know exactly what you mean by sharp pain that startles the heck out of you at the most inopportune moments... It's extremely uncomfortable, and it's made sleeping nearly impossible. I had to take Tylenol this morning at 11am because it hurt so bad I was almost in tears (and also quite sleep deprived). I'm going to ask my doc about it next visit (if I'm still pregnant by next friday, fingers crossed that I'm not, lol). But I get the feeling he's just going to say 'yep, that happens' like he usually does, haha. GL
