I know some people will say it's just dressing up, but I think these images just scream for pedophiles. I read in another article that the youngest model in this shoot was 6. The oldest is 10.
Would you let your kid pose for this? What if it was for a scholarship?

Re: Would you let your little girl model for this? Now with link
Yeah this is from the french vogue photoshoot. I thought the one under the tree was especially disturbing.
I don't have a little girl, I have a son. But L is signed with Ford modeling agency. H and I went back and forth about whether or not to let him model. We finally decided that we would take it on a case by case basis. If we arent comfortable with the product or the shoot, then we will pass.
Any money he earns will go directly into his college fund, and when he is old enough to decide himself if he wants to do this, then it will be his decision.
I don't have huge problems with modeling in general, but the photos in my link are IMO highly sexualized (stilettos, leopard print bedsheets, sexual poses, etc.) In another shoot, one of the models is made-up to look adult-like, but is also topless with just a big necklace covering her nipples.
I probably should have been clearer with my response. No I would not let my child do a shoot like this. But I dont have a problem with modeling if it is age appropriate.
We are going back & forth on signing up Cole with Ford. I modeled as a child... I was also with Ford. I really enjoyed it & my parents saved the money for my college. Although I did minimal modeling, it was mostly Macy's catalogues. NOTHING sexy. As I got older modeling is a not place for a pre teen/ teen girl so my parents ended that.
My friend has her son signed & he mostly models children's place & target ads... nothing like those. Anyway, Ford is reputable & I would not worry about DS.
I would like for LO to do a bit of modeling, but only for a short time and nothing more than that. with that said, there is no way on this earth I would let him do a shoot like this. I don't care how much it pays. There has to be a line drawn and I am with the other PP's, too sexualizing children is wrong on every level. This spread goes beyond just playing 'dress up'.

That is just bizarre.
It makes me sad for those girls. There in no way in hell my kid would do anything like that. I hate the way young girls/ girls' clothing typically look at the freakin' mall, so there's no way I can understand her parents' thinking on that.
But I do think there is a huge difference between that creepiness and the photos inthe Daily Mail article of Elle Fanning and Hailee Steinfeld. They are older, totally covered , and showing the clothes-not their partly covered bodies in a demeaning way.
I totally don't agree with this and would never let DD model. What I don't understand is why this gets people worked up, but entering your little girl in pageants doesn't? To me, there really isn't a difference.
This is actually a topic DH and I recently discussed at length. MIL has a friend who was a professional model, and after showing her pictures of DD, she "insisted" that we call a modeling agency and get her modeling. MIL has brought it up numerous times after we told her we're not interested. I just don't see the benefit. I don't ever want DD to associate looking good with getting paid, and I also don't want her to think that she is better looking than anyone else.
To me, even basic catalog modeling is opening the door to materialism, sexualization, and ego-centrism. I guess that's probably my UO for the week...
I find these absolutely disgusting. I would never in a million years let DD do anything like these photos. They could offer us 10 million dollars and I wouldn't agree to do it. It makes me sick to my stomach. Maybe I'm being extreme, but for goodness sake - let children be children!
As for PPs who have children doing modeling- although it's not right for our family, I don't have any issue those who have their children do age-appropriate modeling (for catalogs, children's clothing, toys, etc) - but I have a LOT of issue with the type of modeling in the French Vogue photo spread.
