How long does bloating/pressure continue after stims?

Hi ladies.

I finished stims one week ago and still feel bloated with lots of pressure.  When did this lovely side effect subside for you?

Side note -- I often see women talking about bloating/pressure after ER.  Well, I didn't even get to ER, but yet I still feel bloated with lots of pressure just from the stims.

  • Eeeeh...I would say at least a week and a half.  I have also never made it to ER so I can totally relate.  Hang in there.  :)

  • Thanks Mrkyrain.  As I've read all of the post-ER messages, I've wondered whether the boating was from the ER, or was it from the stims (or a combo of both). So, it's not unusual to have bloating strictly from stims.  Good to know.  I was starting to wonder if I need to get a gastroenterologist on board this IVF train, too.  lol

  • Also, this is a humiliating question, but then again, I'm learning to leave my dignity at the door -- has anyone else had a lot of gas with the bloating?  This can't be normal!  lol

  • I think my bloating started to dissipate about 2 days after my ER; drinking lots of Gatorade helped. It was pretty much gone after a week and a half. I also had some gas and was constipated for about a week, which contributed to the bloating.

  • I had my ET 10 days ago and I am still bloated.  When I had my ER they told me I may be bloated for a few weeks.  They said that the follicles will fill back up with fluid again after the ER and they stay that way until either AF comes of the pregnancy settles in.  Hope this helps.

Yes on the gas.  I even asked my nurse and she said it was normal for some people.  You can also get bloated from stims.  I think ER/ET can add to it.  I would give it another few days and then check with your doctor.

  • after my ER it took TEN days for me to feel normal again...i thought i had something wrong with me but they kept reassuring me that i was just bloated and that my ovaries were enlarged....hang in there and drink TONS of water:)
