Storing Bottles of Formula

A quick bottle-feeding question - if your LO does not finish the entire 2oz (or whatever is in the bottle), do you put the remainder in the fridge until next feeding? How long can you keep it stored like this?

Sorry if this question seems beyond stupid....TIA.

Re: Storing Bottles of Formula

  • It usually only has one hour after lo drinks from the bottle. If u are concerned about wasting I would make two smaller bottles, only.use the second one if you need it.

  • I thought formula was only good a couple hours out of fridge and once baby drank from that bottle, you have to throw out the excess? Something  to do with their saliva mixing with the formula causing bacteria?

  • PP are correct.. only good for an hour after LO starts drinking from the bottle. We warm up small amount, usually 3 oz and if LO wants more we warm up more..

  • once the baby starts drinking from that bottle, they have up to an hour to finish it.  you should not then take that unfinished bottle and put it in the fridge you have to throw it out.

  • Don't throw it away!  That is the biggest scam ever.  You will waste so much money if you keep that up.  Just put it back in the fridge asap and offer it first for the next feeding.

This is not a scam.  My MIL did this all day friday and my baby had BAD diarahea FOR A DAY AND A 1/2.  Once you make formula is it good for an hour at room temperature.  If it is not used, throw it away.  Never, ever refrigerate warmed formula to save it for the next feeding.   You are just asking for trouble.

If the house ain't burned down and the baby's fed it was a successful day. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
